Maz made to apologize?

He didn't make it up. That would be quite a coincidence. he might not have known but he heard it somewhere.
Okay, so he heard it somewhere. I've heard things like "dingbat" even though I did not live in the U.S. when "All in the Family" was aired. I use that as an example of a term that one may have heard or heard of but which is not attached to an offensive context.
Again, we don't look up every word we use. We pick up terms "on the go" and sometimes do not understand the meaning or confuse similar words. In this case, I'd give Maz the benefit of the doubt; otherwise, why would he use a dated term that has no bearing on his conversation's content or subject matter?

I do give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he did it on purpose. But I do think he says idiotic things and ends up here because of his own thoughtlessness.

I'm 40, and this article was the first time I've ever seen that word.

He's not getting fired.
I'm 60, and I've heard the term "zipperhead" a very long time ago, but never as a racial slur. It was always in the context of someone who does something stupid. Or, more in line w/ Cap-n Spackle's post.

What term isn't a "racial slur" to some aggreived group these days?
