mazz apology

Mazz ( Felger and Mazz 98.5 the Sports hub ) apologize today for what he said on friday show . what did he say ( on friday ) ??
Felger on Friday was broadcasting remotely from New Orleans, where his daughter attends college. The loud and animated talk show host was doing the show in a hotel business service center where people log onto computers, and two Black individuals were sitting behind Felger at the time.

“Yeah, I want to know now who the two guys behind you are, that’s what I want to know. Because if I were you …” Massarotti said, as Felger told the guys behind him that he’d be off the air in 2 minutes.

“… They can’t hear us, right?” Massarotti then asked Felger, who said the people couldn’t hear the hosts broadcasting from Waltham. “OK, so I would be careful if I were you because the last time you were around a couple of guys like that, they stole your car.”

why the hell was he in the business center? I know plenty of radio people whove done their shows form hotels for various reasons. .and they did it form their room!

It sounds overdone. Tony sounded like he just wanted to reference a -past- stolen car incident. Not slam two unknown bystanders.

Cancel culture and always offended folks at it again ! I'm a 56 year old Black American ( maybe I should say African American ) and I don't have any issues what Mazz said on Friday . I took it as a joke between Mazz and Felger ( Felger getting his car stolen ) . People are really reaching for something that's not there . SMDH .

Felger started the show in his room but the connection was terrible so he went out to try and find a better spot. Ended up in the business center which was originally empty but over the course of the show other people started using it.

He received a financial hit as well (10k?) This is a gross overreach by beasley.

Not really. He probably has a contract where he signed on the dotted line and agree to this.,

Wether or not think what he said was wrong, if a station finds an issue.. some kind of penalty to make the talent think twice .. some actual punishment for wrongdoing isnt a horrible idea

to use a baseball term, Mazz made an "unforced error"

he apologized, will serve a suspension, and will continue dominating the ratings when he gets back

If Mazz told Felger that the last time he was around people like that, they stole his car, then that is ascribing criminality and car theft to people based on their race. So, he is singling out 2 people in the hotel whom he doesn’t know, and he is making presumptions based on their skin color. And that’s hurtful.
Mazz knows that it’s his job to be loud, outspoken, belligerent, and push the envelope. He knows he gets ratings that way. And he knows that in a town infamous for racial prejudice, he’ll get a lot of support from listeners.

To make matters worse, they're forcing all its on air talent to take "sensitivity training!" That really sucks!

It's very common in large companies that have been facing discrimination lawsuits over the last few years.

Radio stations are licensed by the FCC to serve the community. If someone in the community complains, that puts the radio station in a bad place. Listeners can complain about anything, from racial insensitivity to obscene language.

Apparently someone complained to the station, based on this article:

There was a situation last year where employees of the radio station complained about a host's racially insensitive comments, and filed a hostile workplace complaint. I know some view this behavior as "woke" but the law doesn't see it this way. If a radio station doesn't take action, it can be held liable.

All these hosts with good contracts need to go into the studio and read the phone book during their shows.... that way they can't be accused of being insensitive to ( insert this weeks woke cause here)

It's a difficult job being the host of a talk show. Don Imus made that clear 15 years ago. People get offended. All races and religions. Radio host Nick Cannon lost his radio and TV jobs because he offended Jewish people. This happens a lot. That's why some companies recommend sensitivity training.
