Mc12 News ad as seen on AZCENTRAL

"Cooney & Curtis
Two different people. One great news team."

The advertising folks at Mc12 are overpaid! That, and they need to find something a lot better than this! Come on people, you can do better than this!

I'm sure Dr Akbar could come up with something for the Mc12 ad folks.

"Paging Dr Akbar!"

Have you seen the TV campaign? You get the feeling about halfway through that 12 is a dating service, not a TV station. I can't understand why they don't use Natalie Cole's "This Will Be" as background music.

Does it matter that they are two different people? Uh, no.

Fay Fredericks. Tram Mai. Scott Light. They're all different from one another.

I saw the ad, it was nausea inducing.

Evidently, the personality cult of the news readers is much more important than any journalistic skills either may have.

I don't watch local news, if I want fluff and brainless crap, I'll read a People magazine.

And if you throw in Elias from ABC 15 (aka The Bottom Feeders) that must be at least two or three 52-gallon drums per month! Actually I heard the Clairol trucks now deliver the pallets directly to the stations.

Warning! I am about to make a joke -- it's only a joke!

Can you just envision this commercial for the weekend pm team...

Brahm and Kim (their last names are just too awkward to use)...

He's White; She's Black!

He comes from a newspaper background; she comes from a television background!

Two different people, one great newsteam!

A script Mc12 might consider using for future station promos:

(Blue Belle ice cream commercial like music plays in the background)

(A soft light comes up to reveal Cooney & Curtis)

Curtis: Lynn Sue and I went to different schools together back in the day, so we share a common perspective about people and things.

Cooney: We were so close then; yet so far away.

Curtis: There is a common bond you build when you work together as a great news team.

Cooney: We do make a great team, Mark and me.

Curtis: We might look like cookie-cutter anchors...

Cooney: ..But we're still two different people.

(Soft light fades to black)

(Cooney & Curtis logo displays)

Announcer: Cooney & Curtis: Two different people. One great news team.

CUT!

That's a wrap folks. Great job!

Cue up the Patty Duke Theme song

Where Lynne Sue adores stories about charities, puppies and fundraisers for the wealthy set, Mark Curtis loves to rock and roll, a monsoon makes him lose control.

What a wild duet!

But their cousins, identical talking head pretty face news reader cousins all the way, they dress alike, they talk alike, they do phoney witty banter alike, what a crazy pair!

When news readers, are two of a kind!
