McBland as unintentional comedy today.

So, McBland has Steve Kaites, "Dr. Sky" on today, always a good guest.

But Pat was like an old Bob & Ray routine, the one where the interviewer is obviously not listening to the subject and keeps asking questions that were just answered and said by the subject.

Pat asked a question, Dr. Sky gave an answer, then expanded on it to answer another question, then Pat would ask a question that was answered in the expanded question. It was really painful, especially since Pat did no background, had the dates and terminology wrong all the way, and really looked scientifically illiterate.

Trouper that he was though, Dr. Sky re-answered McBland's questions and forced a chuckle at the lame jokes and did a good job.

Come on KTAR, time to make McBland a host emeritus, and stop the madness.

Ouch... that's too bad that he wasn't well-prepared for this interview. I've actually never heard an excellent interview about any scientific subject except for those conducted by Art Bell or George Noory. I didn't hear it, but I'm sure he could have done better. Though I'm no fan of KTAR... I grew up watching Wallace & Ladmo, so I still like the guy. ;) I don't hear his radio show, so I guess all the "McBland" nicknames sums it up right there...

This isn't even about being prepared, this is about simple listening skills, something that a good talk show host also needs; believe it or not there is more to a talk show than just talking.

I'm sure Pat is a nice man, I've said so many times on this forum, but KTAR is handicapping themselves by having him when you're trying to get the coveted 25-54 demo. This survey radio that KTAR does is just very 1980s. Good hosts don't need corn-ball topics, they don't need 'topics' at all. They don't need to solicit calls and they should probably TRY to pay attention to a few things going on around them... like the GUEST on the show for instance. Since "there's more to life than politics" on Pat's show--even though he talks politics sometimes--he should then try to monitor pop culture or keep up on things that cater to the station's target demographic, but he doesn't, he's an old curmudgeon who wishes time was frozen in 1967.

LC--did you stick around for that train wreck known as
The Snoozeroom?

Grandpa Gerald and the kids. ::)

I actually enjoy the newsroom, except maybe for Gaydos.

Snoozeroom isn't too bad, but every time they talk to Gaydos, the intelligence level bottoms out. He is painful to listen to.
