McBland Infomercial Hour

I made a post on another thread about this, but it deserves a whole thread.

Today, Pat did a 30 minute infomercial with the CEO of LifeLock (a company that has had lots of issues regarding its own fraud history)

Then, the Bland one does another 30 minutes with Monty from Ki-Ko!

What the hell is this?

1100 KFNX?

I McBland so short of subjects he has to resort to infomericals?

Tell me how this is compelling radio and in the public interest?

Did McBland already use up all of the show prep I left for him on another thread? Hmm... I suppose he could still ask "how much rain do you believe we will get during the monsoon season?" That's evergreen this time of year.

Legend City: I'm sure you're well aware of his numerous other 'infomercialesque hours' including travel agencies from certain agencies, cruise ship companies, and even a health food place... This is par for the course with McBland and, as the ratings show, this is clearly not in the public interest.

Well, he offered a KTAR special with LifeLock after the schmooze fest, not sure if he offered a KTAR roofing special.

One caller asked Kiko about a type of roofing they don't do, and could they refer another roofer, when the Kiko guy was about to give a name, Pat interrupted and said that he would email it.

Pure infomercial, pure crap, and typical McBland.

I see Pat's free one year identity-theft protection started this afternoon,
along with extending the window of free roof repairs at Casa McBland. :D

And sometime later this month, he gets to drive a Ford 500 courtesy of Deputy Dan's friends at the Ford dealership. ;D

Are infomercials part of the great FM News initiative? Hmmmn.

Is this making KT'R "one of America's great radio stations"?

..... I think not! :( :(

Ah yes, Product Placement Ford in Laveen.

Hey Russ--are you logging this stuff as commercial matter?

One of the rare times I got to listen to the PMS. At 1:06 he mentioned that LifeLock and Ki-Ko would be on the program. While the subject matters (identity protection in the state with the highest incidence of ID theft and discovering/fixing roof problems before it becomes a catastrophe) ARE relevant, I think the choice of guests, especially Monty whom Pat has a series of commercials, isn't right.

Plus, when one caller asked about LifeLock's legal troubles, Pat and the CEO swept it under the rug quickly.

(for info about LifeLock's shenanigans, go to: http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2007-05-31/news/what-happened-in-vegas/1)

Neither segment was an interview, it was all infomercial, and all about how great the sponsor was.

I want to call Russ Hill and see how much a half hour on McBland's show costs. Ya see, I've got this great colon cleanser......

Hey, be sure and let us know in advance of the colon cleanser informercial. And somebody should hide a mike when Pat gets his free one for having the guy on his program. He does get freebies, doesn't he?

Hmm, Pat isn't on today.

Probably at home waiting for the Ki-Ko roofers to come over and apply his free sealant.

I wonder if KTAR management put him on leave after that "show" yesterday?

Naw, they seem to have an UN dieing love for him over there.
