McConnell show pulled from syndication

Mike McConnell announced at the beginning of his show today that the show is returning to "LW only" for the time being. Truth be told, Mike never had much in the way of clearances. Presumably the nationally syndicated "Weekend" show will continue.

Damn Authors all across America are sad that Mike (I do not want to work too hard so I will interview everyone trying to sell a book) will only be their "boy" for cincy-- Note to Mike-- maybe if you worked rather than did what was on the tired old talk prep sheets you would still have a job beyond the "Tired One"

Beck has talent-- Mike is a wannabe

well that puts a hole in the WIBC fm 93.1 in the 8 till 11pm slot with McConnell's daily show not being syndicated anymore unless he manages to produce a seperate show for Emmis with Clear channel's blessing

Beck used to have production. Now, he sounds like a self-absorbed, borderline nut-case. It's all rant without any substance.

Mike is the best-read talk guy out there. When someone throws a stat in his face, he has chapter and verse on how wrong they are. The guy reads all the time. He makes the best logical arguments whether you agree with him or not.

As for the books and authors he DOESN'T read - the ones he had to do on the air, I wouldn't miss most of them. I have to love it when someone unknowingly steps into a baseless liberal bent and he takes them apart.

I'll enjoy the show a lot more when he doesn't have to be careful about talking about Cincinnati.

I came here to check this board this morning to see if anything had been posted about Mike being off syndication. I had noticed yesterday and today that he was inserting purely local Cincinnati content so I suspected that was the case. I'm glad to see the show return to local only. His 10-second local injections before breaks always sounded a bit forced. Now when something big happens locally, he'll have the freedom to pick it up.

While I like Mike and think his local daily show was talk at its best, there is no way you can say he tops any of his well prepared guests or callers.

He might seem to with his over-simplified ill-matching analogies and staged doofus callers who he 'argues with' about a controversial issue, but I have heard many guests reveal the errors of Mike's oversimplification of complicated matters.

Maybe he actually knows better and does it anyway to fulfill the role the of the supposed 'all-knowing talk show host', but he is far from one.

What I love about Brian65 is how he considers himself an expert on broadcasting. I wonder. I just wonder, has he ever watched a tape of his cable access show and how bad he is as a host?

I don't know anything about broadcasting..other than being a long time listener.

Good to know that someone else might share my opinion about Mike's show though.

brian 65 knows nothing about broadcasting. Our advice to you brian 65. Watch a tape of yourself. You're really bad. Someone like McConnell could teach you something.

Saw this coming, but I expected it to last to the middle-end of 2008. No one's going to get syndicated successfully as long as they're chained down by 700 WLW.

Up here in Richmond, they had Mike's show on at night but they stopped it 2 weeks ago. They now have some guy on name Rusty Humphries. He's not bad.

Oh and by the way, anybody like that Nick the Athiest who calls in ti Mike's show? I think that jerk is staged but then again that guys calls everyone.

Mikes show is best when it is all local, and definately best when he doesn't use fake callers. He used to get real live wackos on there without the lame setups.

I never really understood the syndication, its not that Mike wasn't good enough to make it happen, there are just so many damn syndicated shows out there like his....

And Rusty H. is just the same Republican talking points coming from an even dumber source.

Mixing two callers, Nick is the very liberal guy..Scott is the atheist.

And in the same timeslot. Who would want Mike when they could get Glenn Beck? Or Laura Ingraham? Or maybe Neal Boortz?

By the way, they're still playing him three times a day between two XM Radio channels. The program director, Cincy's own Sean Compton, just loves him so much and the last thing he wants to do is PAY for a show, even if it means plugging in local shows from Cincinnati and Orlando and Nashville without having to compensate them.

I just hope they don't pull his show from XM talk 12-3. I do enjoy listening to him, local or not. I just don't have the time to listen to him between 9-12 and there is total junk on here in Boston between 12-3.
