McConnell vs Denny

admit it, McConell is an improvement over Schaeffer, even if it's not 'live and local'. ;)

The WSJ am stuff bores me to tears.

So need to disagree with you. I enjoyed listening to Denny. I hope Cheap Channel has to pay all of the GST guys their full contracts. Now I'm over at 920 with Laura Ingraham on the drive in. She has a good sense of humor. I now have nothing to listen to on the drive home. Hannity doesn't do it for me. Not crazy about Medved or Ramsey. I've been flipping between the River and Business Radio 1160.

Im on 920 With you all day! Killing Denny, and the rest was plain stupid. Kimmer was too well worn and didnt sound good at all without the rest who pushed his show. The only thing on WGST to really even think of listening to is Dave Ramsey. WGKA is the new replacement
for WGST.. WGST management you really suck.... Suck really bad.

I have enjoyed listening to McConnell the last few days. I thought he was good with the callers, had interesting conversations, and was a likeable person. He seemed real to me. His conversations were natural and not forced like Denny's were. Those of you pushing WGKA can't be serious. Maybe you have an agenda.

Have to agree, I find myself listening to Ingraham more, she would have been the perfect successor to Denny. If she didn't do that conservative rah rah crap, I'd like her a lot more. Everyone else there is, at best, mediocre. Medved? Gallagher? Give me a break. Tired of Rush; Boortz sounds tired, unless he's reminding you of how rich he is; never thought Hannity was that talented. I think his TV show is trailin' off too. I actually tune in to Savage now and then, but strictly for the drama.

In fairness to Denny, he was king in Toledo where he had been on for years, and they got him to come here. I don't think he asked for it, and I agree that he often sound forced. Wouldn't be surprised to see him return.

Yeah Right! Agenda? WGKA is a much better radio station that WGST was in its latter days
Mc Connell does nothing for me, but for others maybe. WGKA could have a good year if they fine tune some things, and I hate to say this but get the guy on the air in the mornings who does the traffic and such outta there... Not nice to listen to.

i have heard Denny sub for others here in Cincinnati in the past. I can't say I cared for the guy as he came across as being obnoxious, as I recall...and not in a way that keeps you tuning back in.

McConnell was the best when he was here in cincy, but ONLY when he was local. His show has been going progressively downhill with every move he's made in syndication.

It would seem to me that an even halfway decent LOCAL host could beat out a syndicated one. As soon as a host loses his connection with a community, its goes sour. They can keep it from going sour but it takes alot of REAL talent. Theres only so much of that to go around.

Agree about McConnell, a great local talent ... only so-so as a syndicated talent. Who really cares what some ex-rock DJ thinks about the issues of the day! But absolutley do not agree about Denny ... I always thought he was great in Toledo and great filling in for Glenn Beck. He is every bit as entertaining as Rush Limbaugh in my book.

I commented on the Columbus board about CC's changes nationwide. CC reminds me right now of General Motors in the 1970's. They had cornered the market with no more room to grow. The only way left for them to grow was to cut costs, but that means you cheapen product. GM went from a 50% market share to barely 25% today.

That's what's going on with radio right now. I used to be a radio fanatic, but all the creativity seems to be gone. Listening to the local CC station is about as exciting as walking into a Sears store anymore. They are cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
