[Why is it that folks want radio to remain in the past. Steve is over! Let's move forward.

Over?
I listened to him on line out of Denver. It was amazing to see his energy level with a new female cohost, a local comedian. Reminded me of early days on Star. Solid increase in ratings and a daily performance Denver hasn't seen in a while. Granted we're moving into an era where a lot of managers don't want any personality on radio...the safer, the better.
This is not an argument, but we seem stuck in a world of fewer strong, memorable radio personalities. We are bored with who we had and aren't about to give anybody a shot.
Steve blew apart the myth that he was only successful here because he was in Atlanta a long time and (2 he discredited with success elsewhere faulty research Cox used to justify their reasons for not renewing his contract.
Instead of shooting at Steve, the saddest part is a business where one company wants to not only bust up a team, but with no compete clauses in their contract, keep them from going anywhere else in the market and in the end, try and destroy an entire career just because they're done with them. If corporate guys were fair they wouldn't fire people and keep them benched.
Steve might not get rehired right away in Atlanta, but not because he's "over" but because we seem to have a lot of management that really are short on any good ideas but don't trust their judgement to try anything. Or more likely, the GM is powerless to do anything unless corporate tells him. The PD job is meaningless now.
And we're entering an era where a lot of wives are saying they won't move anymore, sick of what radio has done to their families. We did this to ourselves.
