Do you ever have anything possitive to say. I heard a little of the show and it sounded like a normal(going away) show. J Mac does not have a "standard" radio voice like some one like JD Wells but he is a Great talk show host.

I also heard part of the show. Pretty good to hear the morning show out there with him. Shows me that a good guy in this biz really can win. Jay is going to Dallas to do mid-days. JD is probably sulking. And Dirtylaundry?

Waiting for his unemployment check.

Jay....

"JD is probably sulking...."---Radioworker

Not at all....In fact, I was one of the first people to send him an email congratulating him. And why not? It's not everyone who begins his full-time Talk Radio career in market #5.

In that letter, I wished Jay, (who truly is as nice a man as anyone could hope to meet), good luck, success, and prosperity.

Man, if there wishes to come true this Christmas, I wish we all could discover what Dirty Laundry's story is. He sure finds enormous pleasure raining on everyone else's parade. So Dirty, what exactly have YOU done lately? If what goes around truly does come around, he probably hasn't done anything.

I am very happy for Jay. He is a living, breathing example of the American dream. The guy was homeless at one point in his life and his level of achievement is very commendable! Amazing what a little hard work can do.

Congrats Jay.

neg

I said I din't like his voice...if I want to be negative I'll be negative this is America not China or North Korea...and selling his house and buying a new one may not be a good idea for someone starting out in radio.

.there is a lot of negative on radio....jerk of the week, 8 oclock flip off, etc national radio is very negative too

Um...okay so you "din't"

"if I want to be negative I'll be negative this is America not China or North
> Korea" -

Really? Well it must be America because the education you received didn't teach you the virtues of punctuation or spelling.

"...and selling his house and buying a new one may not
> be a good idea for someone starting out in radio."

What is this, time for random thoughts? Again, I'm dealing with someone who is obviously the product of a late American public school education. I bought a house when I first got into radio and it paid off quite nicely for me. You're either paying rent or a mortgage. I'll take a mortgage every time. Perhaps rent is better in your case, simply because you must not have steady employment. Anyone with your nay-saying attitude won't last six months in any industry.

Sure there's a lot of negativity on the radio and in the world in general. Who are you to perpetuate that negativity? Perhaps things aren't going so well in your life because you have a butt-load of bad karma coming at you. Jay should be an inspiration to anyone either in radio or contemplating a career in radio. The guy literally came from NOTHING! You don't like his voice? Okay then. He's still been presented a challenge by doing middays in market #5 and he's plenty to overcome in terms of being the "new guy" in town. He's already taking flack from the unemployed bitter ex-radio employees on that board. He knew that all of this would come about once he was presented with the job. He accepted it anyway in bold defiance! Isn't that what makes this country f-ing incredible? Here's a guy that came from Vegas that has "done good".

There must be something about Vegas because a lot of talent have been called up to the big leagues from Vegas. Dave Wellington and Hardy both at WBCN in Boston. Tom Mitchell was at Mix in Boston for 6 months until he realized that winters in the Northeast really do suck. Gavin Spittle and Jeff Burkett both in Dallas. Gavin being promoted to VP of Talk Programming in Dallas and OM of both KLLI and KRLD. Jeff Katz going from Philly to San Francisco after coming off a year of mornings at KXNT. I would have to say that Vegas radio is pretty damn good at the moment and it's been validated several times.

So the next time you have something negative to say about someone that was or is in Vegas radio, think of what may be thought about you. Perhaps if you park your very shallow opinions for a while, you'll be the one to get the call.

It's all about positive energy, brother.

Re:typo meltdown

I made a typo on my blackberry, big fingers smalls keys.. big deal....you must be Jack or MacFarkland, or his wife, or Heidi Harris....or someone in sales at KXNT... I'm glad you lost your temper ...it shows I hit a nerve...and there must have been truth in what I said....MacFakland did deal with terrorism and the Vegas casino industry...which took some guts...but I still do not like his voice..

I lost my temper? Hmmm... glad you told me. I'm also happy that you think I helped you complete part of your life's feeble ambitions of "hitting the nerves" of others. You even went and got a Blackberry to keep up on the goings on at this site. Sounds like you may need some more constructive "better get me a job in radio again" time.

Nope. I'm not any of those people. In fact I don't even work there anymore. I went and got myself a new gig in Nashville. I have been blessed to have worked with all of those people including JD Wells. (Better get your hand near your crotch to conceal your excitement. We all know how you get when JD's name is mentioned.)

kxnt's Jack on the defense..reply

thanks Jack...I am glad you moved your station from "light life style talk" from politics etc. your on the air staff didn't have the background to deal with such issues..(Alan Stock excluded)
