Mckenna out Jones in....

Jerry Mckenna has officially been let go by CBS Radio. Jay Beau Jones, formely of WXLO in Worcester will be taking over as PD of Mix 98.5. Rumor has it that Jones will also program Oldies 103.3 and be doing afternoon drive on Mix as well!! Not sure what that could mean for Greg Daniels. Maybe he'll end up at WXLO, they're out an afternoon guy and I heard that's where he started out.

Mckenna is better off , at Chr/pop or Chr/R format Station. Clear channel ,Please Hire Mckenna, and fire Lemon Jack( Kiss/Jamn PD ) !

Jones definitely is gonna program both Mix and WODS. I don't know about PM drive but this has to be a cost cutting move with him replacing two people. If they were gonna go with one PD for both stations why wouldn't they just give it to McKenna or Falconi and let only one go? I can't see a major market PD programming two stations and doing a shift. Jones is going from XLO which has a bare bones staff and The Fox which has no jocks to two stations with lots of on air people. I can't see him having the time for a shift.

Yeah...because Jerry did such a "great" job with Mix...CC is going to fire a PD who's stations dominate their demo...pass the blunt this way, please.

On JayBeau's last show on XLO, he said that he would not be working an air shift. So unless something changed since then, Greg Daniels is probably still safe.

BostonRadioWatch.com reports that staffers at Mix and Oldies were notified at a 4pm meeting today about the changes and more changes are still to come. Nothing mentioned about Jones taking an airshift at Mix.

Pete Falconi is still listed on the WODS website as Program Director. Will he still be around to take the occasional fillin airshift or was he outright fired??

And JayBeau Jones is still listed on the WXLO website although no shift is mentioned for him.

Ya think JayBeau will move the WODS 2008 Christmas flip back to maybe the week before Christmas or up to maybe November 1st?? ;D

Radio & Records says both McKenna and Falconi "have left the building".

Jerry did a great job in Providence R.I. ( WWKX ) . Sorry bro, I dont do drugs .

Its too bad, both were good programmers. I think that Jerry Mckenna might have been a little out of place at Mix, but the station was improving, imho.

Jones at 103.3? I could have sworn somebody told me once that he was on 103.3 back in the WHTT days. In fact, I thought I heard him myself!

I can only imagine what changes will happen...

I think Jay Beau Jones was on 103.3 when it was WMRQ.

I think he got in on the tail end of WHTT...and then transitioned over to WMRQ.

15 in a row!

Yeah, WODS is already great, I do not know how they can "improve" it at all? Maybe adding more 80's? They do seem to be playing more later 70's as of late.

I can't believe CBS hired Jones.

Is there a programmer with a worse reputation in the industry? The guy is a slimeball.

Good luck going against Cadillac!

C'mon JJ, you expect THAT?? People LOVE to trash talk everyone else when, in reality, they don't have 1/2 the talent of those they trash!!

By the way, I have been a fan of your's, JJ, for many years. You, Ed McMann, Matty, Lady D, Uncle Dale and MANY more...you guys made it sound FUN to be on the radio and were inspirational in getting into the business! Although, with the current state of this industry, I'm not sure if I should thank you!! ;) (just kidding)

Good luck to Jay Beau Jones, too!! Congrats on the gig.

It is a fact that his reputation is rubbish around the industry. Lots of people scratching their heads saying "huh?".

He may have gotten WXLO some good numbers, and that's certainly what CBS is looking at. But they didn't do their due dilligence on this guy. His reputation is this: "arrogant jerk who does not have many allies and likes to bully people."

Wish him luck? No.

Wish the rest of the team at BMX luck? Yes. Dark days ahead at Mix sadly.
