McMartin AM tuner

It works.
I replaced all the old electrolytic caps.
I did not replace the ceramic discs.
It's possible I should re-tune the circuit.....but I don't know how. I could mark the position of the variable caps, and try tweaking them.

I just need to get/make an antenna. With a 75 to 300 ohm adapter a straight piece of 10' wire hanging above my desk gives poor/average results, but my finger on one terminal is better. There is still some high frequency whine. (no fluorescent lights here)
I have nothing else to compare it to, so I can't tell you if it's better or worse than brand "x".

Check out this guy's crystal receivers...

I believe I have one of the old McMartin EBS crystal receivers but I believe mine is FM. (Wood grain and all!)

That 75 to 300 ohm adaptor is probably meant for VHF and won't work well for KFI on 0.64 MHz. You'd do better with a piece of wire at the end of a section of RG-58.

I really wouldn't tune around on that thing until you know what you've got. Somebody, somewhere has to have a schematic for it.

Do all you can with an antenna and see if you can get a good signal.
