Mcphee to 1200

If they're staffing up with more local voices, it's a lock that CC will flip 101.7 to simulcast 1200. Look for a push for Howie Carr once his deal with Entercom is done. A possible lineup...

6-9 Howie Carr
9-12 Jeff Katz
12-3 Rush
3-6 Jay Severin
6-9 Michelle McPhee
9-1 Hannity and/or Levin on delay
1-5 Coast To Coast

Some interesting options here. I could easily see WHJJ, WTAG, WGIR, WHYN and the CC talker in Portsmouth (96.7?) picking up a show here or there. They could syndicate a Howie Carr morning show to most of these stations which may be more enticing to Carr than staying at Entercom or going to 96.9.

Asked if he'd be doing mornings at his new station Howie said "N-O"

McPhee on 1200 or on RKO?
--Her site hasn't been updated yet--it says "1 to 3 pm on WRKO" (her old slot, unless she's coming back in those hours, in which case she'd be replacing Jen?) http://michelemcphee.com/

her facebook:(19 hours ago)McPhee:
"Lots of pieces of the puzzle moving into place for the big announcement this week...but it is coming."

Among comments:
You're replacing Finneran
Are you replacing Tom in the morning?
Congrats, glad to hear you'll be on WRKO in the AM!

I guess this means Jeff will now be leaving at 11:59 AM sharp, instead of 9:59 AM? ::)

I asked Mark of BRW about this and wondered if McPhee is replacing Brien on RKO. He replied

>>My sources tell me her last day is today..680 from 11 to1 or 11 (1?) to 3

We'll see what happens; where did the rumor of Michele to XKS-AM come from? Nothing so far
on FB, RKO, etc

If you tune in at 1 today and hear Jen saying it's her last show...we'll see

Wonder if she's being brought in case there's a situation with Howie? Remember 07..Feinburg
filled in for Howie during the lockout (they'd get someone to cover early aft and have McPhee
on at 3). You never know.

Even if Michele McPhee moves to WXKS-1200, it doesn't mean it will move to or be simulcast on 101.7.

I still think a contemporary Spanish-language music format aimed at Hispanics under 40 is the future of the soon-to-be-former WFNX.

Do you really think that CC spent 14.5 million to put Mia 1430 on 101.7?

A one trick pony ("Hi, Mr. Officer, gee you have nice muscles and what a dreamy-looking gun") doomed to fail where ever and whenever her voice assaults the airwaves.

What's interesting is when she's on Ch 5 she isn't so bad. Her voice is calm and measured, not screechy. Somehow being on radio with headphones led her to speak a bit louder and her slightly raspy voice could be screechy--she has admitted to being deaf in one ear, so maybe that's the explanation. She just didn't realize and maybe didn't notice the VU
meters going into convulsions.

She left WTKK to go to RKO (replacing Charley Manning) and when she went to CH 5 was
replaced in turn by Jen Brien. I don't know if she's going to RKO or Talk 1200--she had promised a "big announcement" this past week--but my memory of her goes back to Jan. of 2010 on WTKK (right around the same time, word came that CC would flip 1200 to talk,
which debuted in March). She was doing coverage of the Brown-Coakley special election
on talk 96.9 and when a colleague walked into their broadcast remote at F1 in Brockton,
she screeched "MICHAEL GRAHAM IS IN THE HOUSE!!!!! in a raspy, party-hearty, rowdy and LOUD voice.

My ears are still trying to recover. Avi Nelson, over on WRKO, was a bit more delicate to
the eardrums.
