GOOD MORNING TO ALL HERE IN S C. THIS IS MY FIRST COMMENT AND IT IS NOT A BAD ONE. AFTER 20 PLUS YEARS OF ABSENCE I NOW AM BACK IN RADIO, AND WHETHER BY CHANCE CHOICE OR FATE I AM NOT SURE. ANYHOW IT IS FUN. I HAVE SEEN SOME COMMENTS ABOUT SOME MIDLAND RADIO STATIONS--THOSE COMMENTS HAVE NO EFFECT OR MEAN VIRTUALLY NIL TO ME. I DO APPRECIATE EVERYONE'S OPINION AND THOUGHTS, WE ALL NEED TO "AIR OUT" OUR THOUGHTS OCCASIONALLY. MY THOUGHT IS THIS: HAVING BEEN AN OWNER (OR UNDERPAYED JANITOR IF YOU PREFER) OF A COUPLE OF LITTLE COMBO'S OUTSIDE OF S C, IT IS NOW REFRESHING TO ME TO BE ABLE TO GO BACK IN TIME TO RADIO AS I REMEMBER AS A KID GROWING UP AND TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THE FLEXABILITY TO DO PRETTY MUCH WHAT I WANT ON A LITTLE STATION ON A MORNING SHOW. SEEMS THE AREA FOLKS ENJOY MY ANTICS, COMMENTS AND IN GENERAL - A LOT OF B S. CLASSIC COUNTRY, NEW STUFF, AND YES FRIENDS--BLUEGRASS AND SOME ROY ORBISION AND RODNEY CARRINGTON AND JOHN PRINE STUFF THROWN IN THE MIX. FOR ME IT'S FUN, SOMETHING TO DO, AND MOST IMPORTANT-TO PROVE A POINT THAT SOMEWHERE IN SOME RURAL AREA CLOSE TO A POPULOUS AREA OLD TIME HOME TOWN RADIO DOES WORK AND IS ALIVE AND WELL TODAY. ARE WE MISSING SOMETHING BY PAYING THE PRICE OF SUCCESS WITH DICTATES OF "HOW TO" FROM THE BIG BOYS? THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND PATIENCE IN READING THIS COMMENT THAT MEANS NOTHING IN TODAYS WORLD---BUT IT IS MY COMMENT.

Lee, glad you made it back. I think many of us dream of finding a station with no debt and a signal too small to interest the "big boys," where we could go and practice the craft just for fun in retirement. Even if it didn't pay much, it would be much more fulfilling that being a greeter at Walmart or the guy who drives the courtesy shuttle vans for car dealers.

There's a little suburban AM "Real Oldies" station near me like this. For all the horrible programming compromises to sell cruises and caskets, it still sounds like it would be a fun place to spend an airshift.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Of course we're paying the price, but if you have to compete for ratings, the segues from Lady Antebellum to Ernest Tubbs may have to go.

And, no need to shout. All-caps is hard to read, especially without paragraph breaks!
