ME TV coming to KRGV

It looks like you can add KRGV to the list of stations dropping RTV for ME TV. If you punch in any McAllen or Brownsville zip code in ME TV's station locator it says KRGV is adding it in January on ch 5.3 (cable 877). Those are RTV's current channel slots. I don't blame them for switching. RTV keeps going from bad to worse. Projected launch date is 1/14/12.

Yea, absolute zero surprise here. When I was down there in September the dislike of RetroTV (or whatever it has become) was obvious. KRGV is an excellent, aggressive, operation. Those folks won't put with with poor performance for long.

MeTV started airing on ch 5.3 this morning. I emailed them a while back suggesting This TV and the manager replied that they were considering This for one of their subchannels. I wonder if LATV is on its way out too?

No, I understand this change is simply because of the widespread dissatisfaction with RetroTV. I can't imagine LATV going away.

I can. I know of a market where it's probably about to go away.

I couldn't help but feel there must be some dissatisfaction with LATV too. It's awful! Nothing at all like when it first came out. Anyway I was checking out the listings for May on Titan tv and it shows a programming switch on May 8: LATV to This TV. I'm sure LATV will end up on one of Entravision's stations.

I wish it would come to Austin. We used to have RTV before they flipped it to Telemundo.

Regarding Austin, I'm sure that there's at least one subchannel going completely unused. Just after they put their first digital signal on, KTBC fired up 7.2 for testing purposes. It lasted about a week before being hauled down. So I know that KTBC has the technical ability to put whatever the heck it wants up there.

Getting Murdoch to put something up may be another question entirely.

Maybe they're reserving it for MundoFox?

Could be, but that .2 was fired up long before Mundo Fox was a twinkle in anyone's eye. But given that two of the other three affiliates in town have Spanish language .2s, that's an excellent thought.
