ME-TV DECIDES TO ADJUST SCHEDULE AFTER ALL (STARTING APRIL 16)

Seems like April 1st would have been a better date (start of the 2nd quarter).
More like a juggling act than anything else. All times Eastern.

Weekdays (interesting that these are pretty much oldest to newest, b&w to color)
5AM Honeymooners (lost episodes) Gomer Pyle is gone
6AM Beverly Hillbillies (replaces Love American Style)
6:30 Petticoat Junction (replaces Family Affair)
7AM Family Affair (replaces Beverly Hillbillies)
7:30 My Three Sons (replaces Petticoat Junction)
8AM That Girl (replaces My Three Sons)

9:30PM Odd Couple (replaces That Girl)
10:30 Honeymooners (lost episodes) (replaces Odd Couple)

Still the same old tired shows...

Well, I guess that its all in the eye of the beholder. I think ME-TV is pretty good and they took up the Nostalgia mantle after TV-Land all but discarded it. To keep things "fresh" on a channel that runs old titles, the schedule occasionally needs to be shuffled. Some shows need to be "rested" for awhile to build demand for them again. This creates the illusion of them being "fresh" again. We used this same principle at Oldies-based radio stations. Thank you ME-TV!

They have 50+ years of programming to work with. That's the thing that always annoys me about these "classic" networks (Me, Antenna, RTV). They keeping running the same shows to death. I think Antenna has now shown the entire Three's Company series about 4 times. There are plenty of "fresh" shows they can add to the mix. Just changing the schedule around does nothing.

3's company has cycled 4 times indeed, but not the big winner. Good Times has cycled through 8 times. All at the same 6:00pm CDT time slot. As Florida said, "Damn, Damn, Damn!" At least they'll have WKRP in Cinncinnati on as a "new" show starting the 16th. I have found myself watching Me-TV more than Antenna TV just for this reason. At least Me-TV is still relatively new in Houston and therefore seeing "Bob Newhart" and "Mary Tyler Moore" again are a welcome change from the same ol' same ol' at Antenna TV.

I like both......maybe Me-TV a bit more. But they are both lacking in their primetime shows
and I'm sure they could do much better.

Now I'm new here but, why can't they schedule each night (prime time schedule) with different shows? After all, CBS doesn't run NCIS every night at 8 et, just Tuesday. There are enough classic shows out there that each prime time could be different.

Not a bad idea in and of itself IMO, but we are in the era of "specialty" channels, and maybe these kind of classic-TV channels have folk that expect to tune in each night to see the same thing.

(EDIT: An issue might be the way a series is packaged/contracted by its distributors.)

If a classic-TV net decided to try this, I'd expect to see "bomb" shows; i.e., shows that did not have many episodes before being off the air. And, if I did this myself with a network, I'd play it for laughs (camp). Maybe for promos, use scenes of the most outlandish dialogue. Maybe call it "Plan 9 TV"! :D

But then again, I'm only an armchair PD.

I disagree, in general. I'm not home watching TV at 3pm most days. If they switched a show from 3pm to 7pm, it would be the same thing to me as if the show hadn't aired at all recently.

In this case, though, the moves are only by an hour or two and the prime time schedule stays untouched...

They don't have enough shows to air different primetime each night. Plus how would we be able
to keep up with it? I'd guess they are airing 95% of the programs they have the rights to as is.

ME-TV had the rights to tons of old programs in Chicago. It uses it's sister channel Me-Too to air the others. It used to rotate programs every quarter. But you have to remember Me-TV has been trying a lot of different things in Chicago since 2004 and I guess it has a "formula" that works so far, so they aren't going to change it.

I don't know how their deal changed with going national though.

The schedule change has to be, at least, partially ratings driven. I hate to tell you I told you so -but I will. That Girl is a weak program. It is very dated & didn't age well. In it's original release to TV stations for syndication, it bombed. TV Land experimented with it a few years ago. They ran at least one marathon weekend of That Girl. It just didn't create enough interest to pick it up on a regular basis. I would like to see it moved to an afternoon slot on ME. Surrounded by similar programing, I think it would do well.
And put me down for a vote to bring back Taxi.

Kinda like That Girl.....a step back to simplier times when people used phone booths and read
newspapers instead of computers.

Last night's show was awesome. Marlo's real life brother and sister played brother and sister
(but not of Marlo). The brother had a "real" conversation where he tells Marlo how talented his
sister is (the implication was Marlo of course).

The sister was a sister in a nunnery. Marlo went to see her. At the end she bumbs into Danny
Thomas (as a priest) in the hallway. "Oh, I'm so sorry Father," she said. "That's ok my child,"
he answered.

GOOD TIMES.........even though it was hard to hide the family resemblance.
