Me(TV Music) & TJ Arrive In Phoenix

The legal ID is given with both stations KXEG Phoenix and KRPH Morristown mentioned at the TOH.

So KRPH was just sold for $300 K by MMTC. (MMTC is sort of a tax-writeoff outfit, having been used as a pass-through for media properties, especially LPTV sales.) At $300 K this was a reasonable rimshotter sale, not at the earlier elevated price.

The RadioTV Deals listing stated:

SALE PENDING: SERIOUS PRICE REDUCTION! ASKING $300,000. ARIZONA FM, SITUATED N.W. OF PHOENIX. This is a Class C2 facility that had been silent while re-negotiating a site lease. The Station has resumed operation, and the coverage is "robust" in the western portion of Phoenix. Additionally, the Station is now simulcasting with an AM/FX combo with overlapping and full-market coverage in the Phoenix market. Programming is temporary and a new owner will be able to change at any time. Seller is willing to look at any and all serious offers. The pop count in the 60-dbu contour according to Longley-Rice is slightly over 1.1 million people and within the 50-dbu contour the pop count is in excess of 2 million. If a new owner wants to continue the simulcast arrangement in the Phoenix market, the anticipated lease rate for that is in the $10K - $15K per month range. ...

The sale of KRPH is one more nail in the coffin for KXEG. Since they stopped streaming, I have no idea the current status of AM 1280/96.1. Are they still on the air with the automated Oldies, and the shout out to the 194 people living in Morristown?...Lol.

They're on the air on 1280 with a so-so signal into NE Mesa (830 Tucson comes in much better). I can't hear either translator since other stations occupy those spots in the East Valley. I listen on occasion, and they do have a DJ during the day. Whether he's live or voicetracked, I have no idea.

They are streaming with (I believe) the same satellite format they've had since November of 2024.KXEG now advertises itself as carrying Jeff Parrots' "Acoustic Storm," though no time that it is aired is mentioned in the promotion. Still, I have to wonder if Jeff Chang wants to get rid of this one, too.

Just tuned into 1280AM today. Looks like they're back to broadcasting at 49 watts, even during the peak of the day. Seeing as their STA is set to expire in a couple of weeks, I wonder if repairs are underway in preparation for this.

They could, but then why the drop in power? Unless their "lamptimer" or whatever they use to control the day/night pattern is acting up, I don't see any reason for them to just drop the power when their STA allows them to put out 1kw during the day.

What I am thinking is that perhaps they will need the extension to complete repairs to the daytime facilities and they can't do that at the STA authorized power.

But who knows, with that operation ...

You're probably right on the money. I'll have to check out their FCC LMS page sometime in a few weeks and see if anything has changed.
