ME TV's "BIG" NEWS

now they're going in another direction on Fridays, with old 'TV movies'(just how old, I wonder? "ABC Movie of the Week" stuff?)

The Friday TV Movies will consist of: Perry Mason movies from the 80's and 90's, the "pilot" movies of Cannon and Vegas, multi-part episodes of The Mod Squad, Hawaii Five-O, Diagnosis Murder, and even comedies such as The Brady Bunch, and I Dream of Jeannie!

I am glad to know I would be able to see "Gilligan's Island" on a regular basis again for the first time since it was part of the Hallmark Channel's regular programming schedule in 2005 and "F Troop" for the first time since it was part of Nick at Nite's regular programming schedule in 1995.

I was not really disappointed about "Dark Shadows" not being part on the new programming schedules for Me-TV since I know they intend on broadcasting it someday (based on my contact with Neal Sabin, the president of Me-TV).

Give us more Mod Squad, how about It Takes A Thief, and NYPD with Frank Converse. More Love American Style and how about Hart to Hart. Nash Bridges would be nice. Hootenany and Patty Duke

It looks to me like they're trying to cram in as many shows on the schedule as they can.

And the 10 p.m. block looks like a way of keeping some shows on the schedule, while not wearing them out at the same time.

I got my hopes up for Dark Shadows (based on the discussion here) and for Barnaby Jones (discussed here and on their web site). Maybe someday.

The one change I don't get is the decision to remove The Lucy Show so fast. The Lucy Show just started a month or two ago, and they are only now into the third season of six. We won't make it through one entire run. Is The Lucy Show so expensive or guarded by the syndicators?

Another question, it seems we get a lot seasons of Beverly Hillbillies (good). Why wouldn't ME be so generous with My Three Sons? The final season of MTS isn't shown, nor are the Frawley episodes (IMHO a lot better). What is so special about the final season of MTS it isn't being shown?

The original "Dark Shadows" actually consists of 1225 episodes.
With one of those episodes having only selected bits of video due to a screwup, forcing the syndicators to have Lara Parker (aka Angelique) narrate and reminisce about the show.
I've read that the episodes from the first year (pre-Barnabas) were erased, so the syndicated package begins with episode 210. (This is the first episode on Netflix, which goes to episode 370, and skips #290 completely; maybe that was the missing one. At any rate, the syndicated package should include all those episodes on Netflix, plus the remaining ones afterward, but there is no way to get the complete series.

One selling point for SyFy was you fans of the original haven't seen these before, we bet. They are different, but good. We meet Roger's wife, Laura and learn her secrets. Vickie is kidnapped and someone unusual saves her. Plus, everyone is out and about in Collinsport a lot more than after Barney hit the scene.

MPI has the pre-Barnabas episodes for sale.

If you do get the chance to see the pre-Barnabas episodes, there is one "classic" IMHO episode. The sheriff, Roger and Elizabeth are in the drawing room. The sheriff is interrogating them. Well, part of the charm of DS is its flubbed lines. This scene is one of the worst (e.g., best) in the show's run. Joan Bennett, Louis Edmonds, and the other actor step all over each other's line, sometimes just blurt out jumbled phrases amid total silence, and look to each other for who does what next. Great fun.

"The Lucy Show" was just there to give "I Love Lucy" (a longtime Me-TV mainstay) a rest.

With "My 3 Sons", it's probably a rights issue regarding certain episodes.

From what I've read about MTS's final season, someone may be doing viewers a favor by keeping those episodes 'hidden'.

I'm kind of happy with Me-tv's new season schedule... Petticoat Junction is back... mmmmm Bobbie Jo.....

Here's hoping this isn't too far off-topic, but...
The ME-TV outlet here in Vermont slams CW into ME weeknights from 8-10 and then it's back to ME until 12:30, when the so-called "Bill Cunningham Show" wastes airtime. I suppose the fact that this channel is more ME-TV than not is the positive way to look at this, but, well...you know...sigh.........

You also learn why Burke Devlin despised Roger (getting framed and sent to prison). The bloopers are availabel somewhere on YouTube.

That last season of MTS also had a true "Jump the Shark" moment: Steve's cousin from Scotland, who looks exactly like him--and obviously is played by MacMurray, "joins" the cast.

A long time ago, I started a thread about "Petticoat Junction" by talking about the hot daughters. I opined that the girls were at their hottest during the last couple of seasons. I had "Billie-Jo" (Meridith McCrae) as my #1, followed closely by "Bobbie-Jo" (Lori Sanders). However, once we get to the last season "Bobbie-Jo" is at least tied with "Billie-Jo" in the 'hottest sweepstakes". This is because Lori Sanders is not only attractive, but a good comic actress as well. She is very cute, and funny, when asked to pout, and she is very believable when she shows "Orrin Pike" how much she loves him. I also think that Gunilla Hutton, who played "Billie Jo" for one season was the only one who looked and acted like a stereotypical farm girl. Everybody says that the best episodes are in the first seasons. There is a really good funny one in the last season called "The Camping Trip". June Lockhart ("Dr. Janet Craig") and Lori Sanders ("Bobbie-Jo Bradley") are tied for the funniest lines. June's when she' fishing and Lori's as the last line of the episode.

That's still better than WBBJ in Jackson, TN, who I've ranted about here several times. They only use Me TV as filler on 7.3 for when there isn't any CBS programming or local news, which leaves only about 3 or 4 hours a day. Because of that I only get to see Me TV on weekend late nights most of the time. Their management has claimed that they want to put Me TV on a full subchannel "in the near future," but that's been over a year and a half ago and nothing has changed, and I've given up on them doing anything more than they're doing now.

WLMT in Memphis used to carry Me TV full time on 30.2 except for when they carried My Network TV from 7 to 9 PM Central time, but I think that they recently dropped MNTV and are now Me TV full time. I've just about decided to try to set up an outdoor antenna to get them, because I'm tired of the sorry treatment WBBJ is giving it.

DARK SHADOWS WAS ONE OF THE BEST SOAP OPERAS OF THAT TIME WISH IT WAS STILL ON TV FOR PEOPLE TO WATCH. I DO HAVE ALL THE EPISODES ON DVD FROM THE BEGINING OF THE SERIES BEFORE BARNABUS TO THE ENDING. EVEN SOAP OPERAS TODAY TAKE WHAT DARK SHADOWS DID AND SPUN IT INTO THEIR SHOWS LIKE :

GUIDING LIGHT
PORT CHARLES (WHICH INTRODUCED A VAMPIRE)
PASSIONS (WHICH HAD A WITCH AND OTHER SUPERNATRUL ELEMENTS)

I really wish WCTX "MY TV 9" in New Haven, CT would pick up ME-TV for it's 59.2 sub-channel since The dropped TheCool TV on July 15th. Problem is I don't think LIN-TV has a relationship with ME-TV.

If WCTX picked up ME-TV, I wonder what would happen to Part-Time affiliate WZME ME-TV New York. Despite being called ME-TV New York, WZME is licensed to Bridgeport, Connecticut and their antenna is in Seymour. WZME is on cable is some parts of WCTX's coverage area.

One thing I give ME-TV credit for is that if a show is scheduled to air for a half an hour it ends on time. Same for an hour long show. None of this adding an extra minute or two at the end of the program in order to screw up anyone who might be recording the show to watch later, which a number of networks have been pulling for some time now.

Preach on anotherguy. I know how you feel about METV on WBBJ CBS, and I agree.

If they had any sense there, they would put METV on 7.2. Not trying to stray off topic, but the way they do things there amazes me in instances like this. (Looks like you (WBBJ) would have an advantage with this channel, seeing the closest other METV station is in Memphis. Look how many people are looking for this type of television and you have it and only give folks a sample everyday.)

But this is WBBJ we are talking about. How many times can you say West Tennessee in a newscast? ::) We really got a choice in news and weather with them now having CBS. :(

Okay, rant over. ;D

Back on topic, METV has got a lot of great shows to be on soon and I will watch whenever get the chance. :) There are doing a great job.

I wish ME TV would be put on a full subchannel in Dothan. The only other alternative is an out-of-market package for WAKA's subchannel but I have to pay extra.

Unfortunately, WLMT just got MNTV back about two weeks ago. It was off for about two months during the transition to a new studio and changing WPTY to WATN. I was hoping it would stay that way but unfortunately it didn't. MNTV is good for nothing. It needs to shut down. At least WLMT is much better than WBBJ. The only other MeTV station near Jackson and Memphis is WLOV 27.2 in Tupelo/Columbus but I don't think that will be too reliable in either place although it will probably come in some but it may go out quite a bit.

I'm more likely to be able to get ME TV from WLMT. I live in Alamo and their tower is about 50 miles away. WLOV is way too far out for me. I had hopes that when WJKT dropped Live Well on 16.2 that they might pick up ME TV, but instead Nexstar decided not to put anything on it. So I guess that means that we're stuck with WBBJ possibly for years to come, unless they finally decide to get off their wallets and fix the problem.
