I don't believe that WVOM has the rights to Football or Hockey. While I believe they tried, common sense dictates they weren't awarded the contracts.
First LJ has moved on, and in his self congratulatory memo to the staff, he's taken care of himself, and left everyone else in the lurch. Matter of fact, in the staff meeting that supposedly took place last week, he said that with the sale no one was assured of a job.
2nd, with the sale of Clear Channel in Bangor, I don't think that Learfield can possibly know what form WVOM is going to have. Certainly it's a huge risk to award the contract to such an "unknown"
3rd- I can't believe that Clear Channel would let them do it, given the rate of return their looking for on any adventure. They forced their station to back out of High School Basketball with little or no warning to the schools because they weren't going to make "enough".
4th - Those are the two pre-eminent sports that UMaine has. Can't imagine that Learfield would get enough from those two, to then have someone just make do with Basketball and Baseball.
There are more reasons, but I'll welcome your comments
