Because you're making arguments that are logical fallacies and refuse to consider the possibility that things are not what you think they are.

Right. Econ 101 is based on logical fallacies. Churn is fatal even if there's subscriber growth. Gotcha.

All you're doing is blindly advocating for mass consolidation and not thinking about the consequences of such behavior.

I'm not blindly advocating for mass consolidation. I'm simply acknowledging the way the business tends to work and the forces at play.

Really professional of you to devolve into name-calling and insults.

Dude, you're the one who posted this:

And in parsing this sentence:

"Mr. Zaslav? There's a man in a raccoon costume in the lobby. Says you're running the business wrong."\

...I don't see an insult or name-calling.

The government wanted to break up Alcoa. Instead, they took Alcoa aluminum plants built during World War II and sold them to Kaiser and Reynolds, giving them production capacity on a par with Alcoa's and creating competition.
Not far from where I live is an Alcoa plant that stayed open until just a few years ago.

It was built during WWI and in fact, the war interrupted its construction because the people building it were French. Alcoa finished it.

I won't try to find the post and I know I'm overpaying for cable but many of the OTA stations are too far away for an antenna to be dependable, and I'd have to point it in two directions or get two.

But if a got a streaming service, I'd have to watch a lot of shows to make it worthwhile.

Because I was prompted to. And the negative reaction to it means I don't want it brought up again.

I take it as a direct insult and am very much offended. That I am a furry should be no one's business. I'm not really interested in what anyone else on here does in their own free time.

I guess that depends on what value you put on a show. Max starts at $9.99 a month. 28 days in a month (averaging out the year)---that's (rounding up) 36 cents a day.

Think you could find 36 cents worth of TV to watch every day?

Hey, I had you telling Zaslav how to run the business, nothing else.

Honestly, what difference does it make to you? You aren't in the business at a corporate level, so how does the potential of any business merging harsh your buzz?

Actually, I thought it was damn funny. I could picture you in a Furry costume showing up to tell Zaslav how to run his business.
'Security!'

Because your average Joe Schmo has as much business acumen as these storied executives. Anyone worth their salt can look at Paramount selling to Comcast or Discovery and go, "this is a really stupid idea."

Meanwhile, across town at Universal:

"Hey! Who let this minion in my office?"

"I'm sorry, Mr. Cavanaugh. He said he had an appointment."

"And Shari thinks she has it rough dealing with Tom Cruise."

Oh sure, your vast business experience is elevated at such a high level as compared with these CEOs. Apparently, they just don't know it. Must be the reason why you're talking about it on a radio discussion board, and they're riding home in their Bentley.
BTW, is your alter ego a Coyote, Racoon, or a character from Sonic The Hedgehog?
Do you deliver pizza in that rig?

Because I have ethics and wasn't born into a position of power or inherited it. I have a much better life than those freaks.

Oh that's right. You deliver pizza in a Coyote costume and they have multiple homes with money. Somehow, I don't think they would take your advice especially given that comparison.

Back to the main topic.
I'm wondering if the price was the close to reality, maaaaaay beeee?
The major problem with much in the media businesses, they went too far in debt to buy the properties.
