Media Touch automation

An engineer recommended this system as being easy to use. It does the things I need, remote voice tracking among them. It's less expensive than Scott as well. Anybody have any experience with it they can share?

contact scott at captain digital.com and see what he can do,i would also check with prophet and the nexgen 2006.

Captain Digital's solution for remote voice tracking is cumbersome and requires hardware at the remote location. It's more expensive than Media Touch due to that.

Any comments on Media Touch specifically would be very helpful.

The MediaTouch remote voice tracking solution is very expensive. I was quoted 10k in addition to any additional module licenses.

I have not tried it, but I suspect that you may be able to do it using the regular client and a VPN, but I haven't experimented with it.

The On-Air software is very easy to use and it is very easy to get the jocks up and running quickly on the On-Air and Voice Tracking modules. We had one jock with no automation experience start off voice tracking from day one.

One thing to think about also is what RDS encoder you have. The MediaTouch RDS module only works with the Audemat-Aztec/Burk encoders. Even with version 2, the software is still buggy (enabling the by-hour and by-event special RDS messages causes the program to crash for us). I suspect that we are one of the few stations running the RDS module. It does what we need it to do though and we're happy with it.

The production and log-management tools work well. Both have some things we would change, but overall they work well, are easy to understand, and so we don't have many complaints.

Before buying MediaTouch, make sure your music scheduling software can integrate your traffic system logs. The log management program can merge the two, but does not do a great job of it. Hence, OMT's strong recommendation that the music scheduler do the traffic integration.

After doing extensive research in the past, I am very happy with Media Touch. It is wonderful software, but yes it does cost a bit. If budget is an issue, one of my larger stations uses Simian. I have used it for years and have been mostly happy. For the cost it can not be beat, however, I do still prefer Media Touch.
