Media: UT in 'local' hands

The sale to Manchester and Lynch is done. It's gonna be a long nine months.

Stand by if you want the UT ran into the ground Lynch is the man for that !! Again that land in Mission Valley will make an awesome resort. How better to make people not care about the UT than have Lynch progressively kill it!

This morning on KUSI I happened to see a taped interview of John Lynch and Doug Manchester with David Davis and Sandra Maas. Between these two schlubs and the two schlubs interviewing them, only thing I could do is cringe.

Sandra Maas then came with a question "Some say you are going to bring a real conservative bent to the Union-Tribune." "What do you mean?" says Manchester. "Uh...uh....well....the flag on the front page is bigger," says Maas. "Well," says Manchester, "this is a great country isn't it?" to a totally flustered Sandra Maas as David Davis sat there silently and watched her sink into smelly hot muck.

Just kill the da** thing once and for all and put it out of its misery.

Talk about lobbing softballs: that one should have been classified as an advertisement, not a news story.

I loved it when Lynch looked at his new boss and called him "Papa Doug." Talk about paternalism at its worst! When you combine that with the boosterism Lynch says will be part of their agenda, this will become Papa Doug's Plantation Paper reporting on the world as seen through Papa's eyes. As a journalist and a political conservative, I am very afraid now that Father Doug has his plan for the salvation of San Diego and his own daily bible in which to print his creed.

Yes, newspapers have long had publishers with partisan views, but they understood the difference between editorial and reportorial and they had actual journalists and newspaper folk making the day-to-day decisions. Now we have a glad-handing radio salesman and a hotel operator to micromanage it all. These are the only people who could make straights long for David Copley.

Yah Lynch sure made 1090 and the BCA group a bunch of winners. The place lost money for years and Viejas had to pick up the slack ! Something crooked when someone has themselves at the top and his daughter as sales manager.
