MediaCo acquires Estrella Media assets

Guess I should get the discussion going on the DFW board, as it affects KNOR, KBOC and KZZA: MediaCo Acquires Estrella Media’s Content Operations; To Program Radio Licenses - RadioInsight

Wonder how this will affect the arrangement of Estrella with TEGNA to purchase the WFAA RF8 license with TEGNA moving all WFAA programming to what is now KMPX RF30? Was part of the 2020 deal in which TEGNA purchased KMPX to create a duopoly…essentially would be a license swap. Supposed to happen before the end of 2025 if the purchase option is exercised.

KMPX will likely not be affected as they are owned by Tegna, not by the Estrella network (anymore). This applies to the stations owned by Estrella Media.

But as I pointed out, there is language in the APA for the TEGNA purchase of KMPX that would alllow Estrella to purchase the license and transmitter of WFAA, returning Estrella to owning a station in DFW.
