Mediaweek.com: Visa, McDonald's Pass On Super Bowl Spots

This Mediaweek.com article reports that Visa credit cards and McDonald's restaurants, who had both advertised during the Super Bowl in the past, will not be among the sponsors of the telecast this coming February 6th.

The article noted that the Winter Olympics will open in Turin (Torino), Italy on February 10th, and that one of the reasons Visa and McDonald's won't advertise during the Super Bowl is that both companies are major Olympic sponsors. It's safe to assume that both companies' advertising and marketing plans for the first part of 2006 are wrapped around the Olympics.

The article reports that Anheuser-Busch, Cadillac, Pepsi, Ameriquest, Fedex, and Paramount Pictures (the latter will likely use their spots to plug the company's Summer 2006 blockbuster, Tom Cruise's "MI-3", due to be released in May) have purchased spots during ABC's broadcast of the game.

What about Coca-Cola Enterprises?

The Olympics & Arena Football

Hi everyone:

while this doesn't have anything to do with adverttising, but speaking of The Olympics nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what NBC does on February 13th when the Arena Football season begins. I think it's pretty safe to say that they'll have Olympic coverage early followed by football late.

Thoughts anyone?

Cheers for now & Happy Holidays :)<P ID="signature">______________
