Medved a better choice of conservative talk

I've been criticized on this board as being liberal but the truth is I would like to hear Conservative Talk that's Biblically based rather than someone that's just foaming at the mouth and criticizing everything that a Democrat suggests.

Personally, I think Michael Medved demonstrates this character. Would like to hear more talkers like him.

Do you know of any?

Dennis Prager is my choice of a better, even best, conservative talker. He doesn't yell at people, he doesn't insult them, and his personality doesn't seem to be so egotistical. Rush's massive ego sounds like schtick to me. When I suggest to liberal friends and acquaintances that if they want to try on conservatism for a change, I tell them to listen to Dennis Prager.

The last time I heard Medved the impression I got was that he asked a bunch of leading questions to a guest, gave the guest almost no chance to answer, went to a break, and then when he came back from the break he just repeated the same questions and again gave the guest no chance to answer. That gets tiring real quick.

Josh,
I read several of your posts and I want to commend you for standing firm in biblical principles in an age when it is seems increasingly unpopular to do so. As far as your question on Conservative Talk radio that's Biblical, I think Point of View with Kerby Anderson is one of the best. This show is live weekdays 2pm-4pm EST and podcast, as well as live streaming, are available if you don't have an affiliate in your area. Albert Mohler's daily one hour program is not bad. It airs live at 5pm on several affiliates including XM satellite 170. The following Moody Broadcasting afternoon shows covers a wide range of topics from a conservative biblical perspective: Chris Fabry Live is an hour daily program which airs at 3pm and Prime Time America airs daily from 5pm-7pm. If you have live stream access, you may want to try some of the following local regional shows: The Don Kroah Show on Washington, DC's WAVA-FM daily 4pm-7pm EST (wava.com), The Paul Edwards Show on Detroit's WLQV-AM daily 4pm-6pm EST (faithtalk1500.com) KKMS Live from Minneapolis' KKMS-AM from 3pm-6pm CST (kkms.com) and The Georgenne Rice Show on Portland Oregon's KPDQ-FM 4-6pm PCT (kpdq.com). I have tuned in to Bill Bennett's morning show several times and he doesn't seem to be foaming at the mouth as much as Rush or some of the others.

HI Scanman,

I plan to check out these programs. Thank you very much!

Never realized that there was a plethora of good conservative programming. It's good news! josh

No offense, but I'd like to commend ANYONE on the air who has the guts to take a stance OTHER THAN conservative. Talkers all over the country seem to march in lock step, even if being "consistant" with conservatism isn't being consistant with being a compassionate human being. (Of course we also know that many ideologues, including talk hosts, rarely live up to the strict ideology they preach---no shocker there)

Hi Jerry,

Excellent point as I do enjoy listening to one that is an independent thinker.

That's why I like Medved.. He's a conservative but not necessarily always agreement with everytihng the GOp says. Would like to hear more like minded people.

Medved and Prager both seem to think beyond the typical conservative political-dogma talking points. Either one would be a good choice. Dennis Miller is also a [mostly] conservative talker I've enjoyed listening to lately, though he doesn't necessarily stick to following biblical precepts and principles. I have heard of a few others, but haven't listened to anyone else enough to have formed an opinion.

Jerry:

Dial Global's Ed Schultz, a liberal who is never marching in lock step, has Medved appear at least once a week on his msnbc TV show. If a liberal talker not in lock step is what you're looking for, I would start here.

You bring up a good idea!

Why doesn't syndicated radio offer a talk program that has two hosts with opposing views? I always feel like I'm being cheated when a talk program has ONE HOST that takes only friendly, agreeable calls. I don't want to have to listen to an informercial of one selling a product or in this case a political position...

Public discourse is what people want to hear. That is why I do enjoy Medved. Even though he doesn't have a co-host, he's glad to take opposing calls all day long....... Medved's a good man! :)

You are right josh. Medved is the only right wing host I can listen to. He does at least listen to and discuss differing views. I would suggest , if you are interested in someone on the left who also takes this approach ,listen to Thom Hartman. In fact they often are guest on each others program. That is what discussion and compelling, informative talk radio is supposed to sound like.

Indy,

THANK YOU! I've been getting beaten up by conservatives for opposing Limbaugh & Hannity (even though I am a conservative) and I've been assaulted for voicing my support that a conservative lady with class host a new Late Night Show instead of the usual Leno, O'Brien, Letterman leaning liberal fare.

....... The truth is, more importantly, I would like to see fair TV & RADIO debates and it seems Hartman & Medved participate in such activity. BRAVO! .... Medved is a great listener and I assume Hartman is too. Will give him a listen!

I like Mark Levin,Myself!

for those of you who are radio historians, you may find Mark Levin to sound much more like another popular figure in radio history,
Walter Winchell.

Personally I think that the main hosts for Salem Radio....Michael Medved, Dennis Praeger and Hugh Hewitt....are very intelligent, thoughtful, and a cut above most of what is out there. Unfortunately their network is in serious financial trouble, including the pip-squeak powered station that carries them in my neighborhood.

Is Michael Medved a great conservative host? Perhaps Salem doesn't think so. They pre-empt an hour of his live show every day in Tampa to present a self-admitted dyslexic high school dropout telling people how to get rich playing swings in the stock market.

Revenue trumps ideology and even good radio. The stock market show must be brokered. The station in Cleveland, Ohio used to drop the third hour of "The Savage Nation" for some brokered (financial, I think) junk. I don't know if they do the same with his replacement, Mark Levin, since I don't listen.
