Meet The New Coyote

hmmm...guess they're takin' on KEZ with those artists ::) Still the highest and best use of 95~Five is KFWhyEye, regardless of how the deck chairs are re-arranged on the SS KYOT.

Looking at the last ten songs, this is too soft to collide with KEZ's "today's favorites & yesterday's disco" format.

Interesting to see that they say they're a "major" Broadcast Architecture Smooth AC affiliate. Does this mean they'll stop their own voicetracking and just take Dave Koz & friends off the bird, or is BA just going to do the music logs?

As for the Fox rebranding on 550... all of the CC talk stations are doing it these days. Nothing says angry old men quite like Fox news... It doesn't matter what frequency you put that lineup on, KFYI's the station that wants you off their lawn.

Putting KFwhineI on 550 ruined two perfectly good ingredients:

KOY and a great signal.

My radio has refused to tune to 550 since they booted KOY up the dial.

I've been a Coyote fan (long-distance) for some time now...................

But NOT AS OF TODAY!! This new "branding" has prompted me to tune OUT

It is the natural evolution of this type of station but the big question is will this change help them in the ratings. Latley if you aren't doing 90's/'00 Hot AC, well you aren't gonna get the big numbers LOL. We shall see but a smarter move would have been to rebrand KFYI Fox News as they did and move them to 95.5. Maybe they are testing the waters first....

Agreed...with the exception of testing the waters. The Buckeye Boyz suspect this is a last ditch effort to convince CC mgmt they've tried everything before pulling the plug on KWhyOhTee. More soft vocals don't offset the instrumentals that drive this station. CC knows how well Rushradio plays on FM, but they like the low hanging fruit 95~Five has produced over the years. But the tree aint producing as much as before and a last minute injection of vocals wontsaveit. Time to call Al and his tree pals!

Don't Al and his pals work exclusively for KT'R listeners?

Ah, but if you want to buy gold from a questionable reputable dealer, The Nearly Bald One
will recommend one of his many testimonial clients. Along with plumbing, home remodeling,
appliances, you name it, Mr. Komando probably shills for it. Although I think appliances has
been sublet out to the rich bored ex-housewife for shilling purposes.

Come to think of it, we haven't heard from Al and his tree pals for sometime now. Sure hear a lot from Mike at Tree Pros on KT'R. He's got a radio voice, so the Nurse and I figure Mike must be a Clear Channel or SeeBS castaway who finally has a real job!

But back to KYOT. The "new" branding and increase in vocals aint gonna change much. But as the Nurse and I said earlier, at least it shows the CC suits they've tried everyting.

As unpopular as the station may be in the sales demos (stealing a phrase from The Old Gringo), a lot of people are generally aware that it exists, and they still lovingly call it "The Coyote", and they associate it with "smooth jazz". (The "smooooooth jazz" voice guy - don't know his name, but you know who I'm talking about - is presumably a big reason why it's been branded so well, for so long.) With that said, "95.5 KYOT" still sounds like "The Coyote" too much, and so I think this shift will only alienate the existing listeners who are tuning in hoping to hear at least some instrumentals.

I'm not sure if the audience is that picky.

Al went out of business.....I keep getting calls from the outfit he sold his customer list to.

Oh stop. I'm picky enough, but the added vocals are good. It's like listening to Beth but w/o all the annoying talk.

I give it till summer or so and then the plug is pulled by fall in time for FYI 95.5 to gear up for the next election on FM ;-) Even though I don't care for practically every host except maybe sharpe at FYI, its the right thing to do. Must get with the next generation and not be stuck in the old generation.

I miss Al, and my tree's pals!

foydoh, foydeight, five nine aydeight!

That was the phone number!

480, 488, 5988

Brings back memories of the days of the "Can't sleep? uuhh, uh uh" commercial, the "fox news radio it's donna fiducia" intro, the beginning of the end of the hip hop era, and the new 97.5 coming out with reggaeton before 95.1 debutted! (Hmmmm... If only 97.5 just stuck with the spanish format.....).
