David would have to drive in from Palm Springs. I am limited by health issues to traveling only within about a 20 mile radius of my home. Mike is up in Sacramento.
I imagine Kelly's response would be the same as last year's.
These days, "meet ups" for participants in online forums seems to be a much less popular idea than they used to be. Even Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters Hollywood Media Professionals, which I was active in for many years, has only held two luncheons in the past year, and I suspect the next one on November 2 wouldn't be happening except for the recent passing of one of the founders (the luncheon is to be a tribute).
In fact, (having just gone back and checked and now adding this in an edit) after the pandemic-created hiatus in luncheons ended, they have had exactly one other luncheon besides the two I referenced, and that was after a gap of four years ... not just because of that hiatus but also the fact that one or two luncheons had been cancelled in the months before that.
I am also aware that a number of my colleagues who were members back in 2020 have since declined to renew their memberships, as have I. That hasn't prevented them from allowing anyone who will buy a ticket to attend (a filled seat is still a filled seat) but they now take place at the Hilton in Woodland Hills, which is about the farthest away from where most of the members live as you can get without being in the next county) and that has caused the organization to deteriorate faster than the Oldies format.
To make matters worse, for the tribute luncheon they are back to "members only".
And James thinks a "meet up" for here would work??!!!??
James, I appreciate the sentiment. I really do. But no.
