Mega 101 on location at Big Texas?

Hopefully, the title makes no sense to you at all. Why would a spanish CHR do a location at a country dance hall and bar? Well, the statment is untrue, I only stated it to grab your attention. Here's a true story:I went to a re-imaged bar called Baja (formerly All-Stars) off Nasa Rd 1, with a big 94.5 The Buzz truck in front of the bar. For a second, I thought to myself, "ok I'm going into a bar that is playing rock music (or the Buzz version of rock, rather)". Instead, I hear nothing but hip hop music. The only rock song played all night was Def Leppoard, a group way out of the Buzz's league. Why in the world would a station of one format go to a location where the music is that of another format? Doesn't make sense to me, would make more sense if Hot 95.7 or Party 93.3 was at the bar. Good thing the Buzz wasn't live.

Next week, Radio Disney will be on location at Sugar's.

Some of this may be at the client side. I recall at a regional Mexican station in the LA market doing remotes from the Mighty Ducks venue in OC for hockey... about as logical as that Jamaican bobsled team.

On the other hand, most listeners do not just listen to one station or one music genre, so the club and the station may believe that there is a crossover crowd that can only be reached by going to different formats. Again in LA, we run lots of spots for rock concerts on an AC station... more rock fans listen to it than the pop / rock station!
