Mega 103.5 HD-2 going away?

Saw a post on Facebook saying 10+ years But all good things must come to a end. They are putting the entire music list in. I don't like what Waterloo is doing at all to all the stations. Guess I'll be listening to 102.3 HD-2 from now on.

Mega HD-2 is now Bob's Christmas channel.

Waterloo is just a renaming of Sinclair (not related to the TV group) which co-owned the stations since 2003.

They have 40% of the total market billings, and have 6 stations in the top 12 billers.

And they are making money; Entercom is not.

I won't be listening to 103.5 HD2 anymore when I'm in Austin. What a shame!

LOL maybe the Mega people can start a pirate station, it will take them 10 years before they're busted judging by what's happened there in the past.

At least 95.7 the spot in Houston added channel q in replace with the beat.

Nothing you say has any basis in business reality, you regularly comment on signals or business/format decisions from the POV of a radio geek. Just because you cant hear a signal from 100 miles away anymore because of a translator, just because an HD2 sub you liked goes away, doesnt make it a bad decision or a bad company.

Mega was a great format I think still deserves a spot on the air in Austin. What's Bob gonna do when Christmas is over?

Ok. But what will happen when Christmas is over, what will they do with the HD2?

For commercial radio stations, this is a business. Just as a store wants to stock merchandise that customers want, a radio station wants to provide a format and programming that listeners will use as much of as possible.

Limited appeal and unsuccessful formats are dropped.

I don't know what you are referring to in 2009, but what I do know is that was the deep part of the great recession which forced many changes in radio.

Oh, and in the US the AM band is 540 to 1700, not 530 to 1710. The FM band begins at 88.1.

We are not insulting you, but David.. me, b-turner... work in radio and are speaking from experience and knowledge. This is a business, not a hobby and doesnt cater to hobbyists.

And please, stop capitalizing every word.. with no punctuation... thats very hard to read. Weve told you that before and I realize you may have some form of a disability, but please try and comprehend that

KNLE is still local

Hey Robert you may wanna check out 88.1 KNLE, right at the beginning of the dial. last I heard they played exclusively local music submitted by the station's listeners. I talked to the guy who runs it on the phone once, and he isn't a fan of the music industry, opting instead to play local music. SO there's good local Christian programming there at 88.1 in Austin!
