Mega 104.3/99.3

Just checked out this station for the first time in a while to notice it's skewing a lot more recent. Also of note is the same voice guy as Energy (along w/ a female voice) & that the station is going by "The New Mega...." plus it used to play mostly upbeat R&B tracks, with some Freestyle & Classic Dance, but the dancy stuff seems to have been replaced by downtempo R&B titles.

What are your thoughts about having the same announcer on two stations in the same market? I know it happens sometimes on satellite, but pretty much unheard of on terrestrial. I guess the Energy & Mega signals are so weak that it doesn't really matter. Their formats add a TON of flavor to the market however - the market would really be boring without these two stations IMO.

Voice dude Scott Fisher just signed with KNIX--he's already on CC cluster buddy
55/FYI. In fact, he tracks part of the "politically incorrect" (at least to the libs)
open to that Crummey talk show...

Fisher/track: "Now heeeeere's Joe Crummey!"

Crummey/live from El Lay: "Gracias Senor Pescador...thank you Mr. Fisher...
for those of you who don't speak Spanish............yet."

I actually like the new Mega. Its been awhile since we had some good Urban music on the radio and not just the hip hop you get on Power and Kiss. There is so much great new urban music out there and finally we are getting a taste of it on Mega. I also agree with you this market would be lacking without the smooth urban sounds of Mega and the pumping beats of Energy. Yeah their signal sucks, yeah their owner is cheap, yeah they have no ratings but they are defintley in the top 5 most listened to stations in my car.

It's been like this for several months. With Mega dropping the freestyle & classic dance, it would make sense for a MOVIN' type station (if it happens) to include those types of music on its playlist.

What's the format classification for this station now? Can't be Rhythmic Oldies anymore - too much slow stuff - and too much recent stuff.

Urban AC?

Yep , Urban AC- best of today and yesterdays R&B (not hip hop/rap). There is suppose to be an upgade in the signal that has been shown in the FCC records for both Mega and Energy-- anything would be an improvement.
