In Kokomo, we don't even get WISH's LWS weather. No great loss IMO - I prefer the SkyTrak Weather Network from WTHR. But what I don't get is how both WRTV & WTHR have successfully gotten (presumably) low-rated secondary channels carried here, yet WISH seems unable to do so.

To the other posters:
I realize that 106.9 Marion is what's preventing me from receiving 107.1 WEDJ. In theory, it should also be preventing WEDJ reception in Logansport.

I can get WSYW 810 here in Kokomo when it's on, and the signal actually isn't that bad. I don't really have a desire to listen to Spanish radio for great lengths, especially because I don't particularly enjoy Regional Mexican music and I still don't know much Spanish. But I do like to see a wider variety of formats on the radio, and I think radio should attempt to serve as much of the population as it can.

I've been to the facility, and wondered why they weren't doing that.

I mean, it would seem to be a(WLAS Lafayette!)ural.

(Heh...if Scott Fybush is around, he'll get a chuckle out of that...)

LOL

I have often wondered why they just don't have the WLAS legal ID with WLFF's at the top of the hour like they used to. It sounds bad with that 2 second interruption at the very top of the hour like that. Then again according to the last few books, it seems like Scott Fybush and myself are the only 2 people that have tuned in within the past few months.

Re: Spanish radio

Alright, a Logansport thread!

There must be a dead zone for all types of broadcasting signals in Logansport and outside the valley. They're 70 miles from Indy, Fort Wayne, and South Bend. Not to mention 30-40 miles from Kokomo and Lafayette. But besides local radio, nothing comes in clear except Q95, Shine 99, WMRI, and....... that's about it that matters. Pretty sad. There is a huge amount of satellite radios in town. I wonder what the percentage breaks down to?

Whenever I'm back in Logansport to see the inlaws, the radio scan almost always stops on 107.1. So I would assume a small bit of copper wire attached to a home stereo would pick up the signal pretty easy.

I grew up in Royal Center, so picking up Indy, FW, and SB stations was pretty easy and clear. Chicago stations would come in but they were a little staticy.

I'm not amazed Spanish programming on 103.7 (I miss Hoosier 103) is doing very well. Many of the transplants are putting down roots in Logansport, staying with their jobs at Tyson, and now making a bit more money, and being a bit more interactive around town. The influx of Latinos is the best thing that ever happened to Logansport. That is not debatable.

Each town/city in central and especially northcentral Indiana has a large Hispanic population. If WMRI or WSHW were to flip and market themselves as Indiana's Latino station (or something like that), I think that they could become very successful. Marketing would be key.

Re: Spanish radio

If you're getting 107.1 clearly in Logansport, the stationmust be in just the right spot elevation-wise. Pretty interesting.
______________
Did the Corinthians ever write back?

Re: Spanish radio

It's not exactly clear. There is a small bit of static and 'MRI does impede a bit at times. But it's not bad compared to other Indy stations. Once you get past Herds Seeder on US 24/35 south it's not bad (along with most of the other Indy stations :)

Scott and I, and our other traveling companions, had the pleasure of hearing this ID, which basically drops in unannounced over the simulcast programming from the FM side. In mid-song. In mid-word. Doesn't matter.

We made a little joke of it. :D

At least we know WLAS still has it's automation and it's working properly. lol

If I were them, instead of simulcasting Wolf Country with an ID interrupting at the top of the hour, I'd run a***WLAS LAFAYETTE***ormat.

:p
