Mega Media Files Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

OK, this now brings us to the point of what we all knew this would be all about.

What to do, next?

It's really quite simple and you have chosen your leader, who has the ability, the resources, the leadership ability and all he needs is one thing ... YOU.

I've watched the thread and others, for weeks, and never have I seen such a passionate group of supporters and a loyal group of inspired, motivated people. It's now time to grab for the next run.

I've suggested in private a way, as have a couple of other posters publicly, how he can "lead the way." That time has come. It would reach far, far, more "P1's" on a local, regional and national basis. From the beginning, it could be very easy to do, but it needs your help. One time help, in fact, could make this work for a year. Then, do it again.

Help him out. Let him give you the details after he thinks about it and decides if he has the time to do it. He needs your help... a hundred of you. Put a few dollars where his heart is ... for you.

I know I'd be impressed to see it happen ... and the word will quickly get around.

Tony's your guy ... and you have a hand of being a part of the "new" Pulse, such as it will be.

Good luck ... and make happen. Set a way to lead not only the Coalition ... but other broadcasters, too. You might well be surprised how it could well work with just a little help, some work and some "inside" assistance.

Make a serious effort to start the "new" Pulse. I really believe, after years of learning this business, and watching, that you guys can do this at a minimal effort if you want. It's up to you. I believe you can make it happen through Tony, or it won't happen by itself.

Now, give it some thought and, again, good luck. Go for it! Nobody can do it better than this group. And I sincerely mean that.

2)  Find another way to attack the dance format somehow.  And judging on some of the responses, I could actually see why some would want to go after the fans of this (hey, gotta call it as I see it and can actually realize the "fanatic" part of this whole thing.)

And MarcR....case in point on the attack.  BTW, what took ya?  ::)

After spending almost a decade socializing in bars and clubs on the Island, I came to the conclusion that current-dance acolytes were some of the most self-indulgent and intellectually incurious people I've ever met, so there's my "other way" to attack the dance format.

Did you ever think the problem might be the "bars and clubs" and not the "Dance" music, or the act that you were on "the island" and not in the "city" might have something to do with your observation?

A.) Many Many Bars and clubs are full of "self-indulgent ad intellectually incurious people" whether it be dance, country western, some hip hop club, or one of the yuppie bars in midtown. Ive noticed a cross genre trend. The backgroud music is often not the primary factor, its the establishment.

B.) Not to group alll the "islanders" into a category, but the 5 boros are undoubtedly more cultural, intellectually curious, open minded, not very self indulgent (in general that would be the deep south where I came from at one point) Once again not to insult, generalizations aren't valid measurements, but I think we can agree for bettr or worse, there is a different attitude in that respect in the boros than on the island

C.)  The modern dance fans outside the "island bar clubs" tend to be the most intellectually curious and creative of them all, pasionate about foreign and gasp European groups, a large playlist, and non-conventional "researched radio", younger demo, strong college link, etc. Bars on "the island" are ertainly not pulse's main audience.

D.) Intellectually -incurious to me would be adults that listen to: Radio Disney (with no kids in the car), or  Z100 HD2 "Verizon New Music"....add self indulgent to that combo, and I throw in WABC 770 AM and "The Apple" talk 970, but thats just IMHO (based on my experience just regular life in the city) ;)
