Megaphone effect

Greetings folks, I've been messing with this for close to a year
and still cannot get the right sound processing for a mega phone effect using Adobe Audition
anyone care to enlighten me on how I can create this effect, I've tried rolling off
at 500mhz and as much as 900 but still can't get the right "sound".. Thanks
for your help.
Regards,
Larson

As silly as it sounds, why not cup your hands around your mouth, then add EQ and reverb.

I usually use the Quick Filter option for that kind of stuff.

HEAVY compression and limiting, hard bandpass filtering, reverb and/or echo...

Or buy a copy of Audio Ease Speakerphone.

In addition to harsh EQ and compression and a little delay, I generally toss a smidge of a distortion plug-in in there too (an amp simulator will also work).

What about old 1920's cone-type megaphones? :D

Thanks for the enlightenment folks, I'll give it a go and see what I come up with
best

Larson...

  • Record the file in mono.... (trust me on this)
  • Quick filter "Old time Radio Preset" leave it at the factory setting of 91..
  • Hard limit it to -3db and boost it +6db
  • Drop the file in Multi Track --- 2 times--- pan one left and one right
  • offset them just a hair....

Let me know if that works for you.. that's how I do it...

BTW, I left Kansas and moved to Nebraska.. Shoot me an email...
