Mel Simons: Personal Attack on Jordan Rich?

O

Omnibus

Guest
Saturday night heard Mel Simons on with Morgan White, Jr. Morgan was promoting the fact that Jordan Rich was doing the play " Love Letters" at the NSMT for two weekends as part of a fundraiser for cancer support groups [ Jordan's wife, Wendy, died of cancer last fall. ] Mel Simons snickeringly said something to the effect asking if it was a play about 2 guys writing love letters to each other. Morgan White sounded a little taken back and then went on to inform Simons it was a play about a man and a woman's love letters to each other over a number of years. When Jordan came in later to do the crossover Mel Simons asked the same stupid question about the play being about two guys. Don't think Jordan thought it was funny at all and correct Mel Simons on the spot with curt response and he left the studio.
Question? Is there some sort of feud going between Mel Simons and Jordan Rich? Can't imagine. Everyone likes Jordan Rich. Maybe, Mel Simons is past his " sell by date" !

yikes--I will say I heard the show Jordan did, his first show back after mourning the death of his wife and it was very
touching and you had to feel very sorry for his loss. Maybe Simons was a bit out of it, esp. given it's a cancer support
fundraiser and I'm sure he was aware about Jordan's wife passing on after a struggle with cancer...

Jordan is a class act, in every sense of the word. Mel Simons on the other hand.... he once presided over a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for some folks I know and a few people were talking amongst themselves while Mel was on the mic. He proceeded to run them up and down in front of everyone, because they weren't giving him their undivided attention. It was downright embarrassing. Why anyone would want to pay him is beyond me, hey Mel 1971 called.... they want their comedians and stereo equipment back.
