Melanie Apple

Melanie was a wonderful talent with a great voice. I worked with her briefly in the 80's. I really didn't accept her until one day she came into the studio, messed up and used "the mother of all curse words" as Ralphie from a Christmas Story would say.. it was then that I knew she wasn't just a sweet voice, all prim and proper.. she was real. One infamous story about her first few days at WARM was when she tried to clean the console with a large quantity of Windex, which subsequently shorted out several pots... I also remember her a the young and naive little girl voice on the Dr. Diagnosto skits with Terry McNulty.. she was wonderful! God rest her soul.
 
How very sad. Thank you for including the link to the article. I remember Melanie back when she was at WAZL in Hazleton. She was a wonderful person.
 
Also worked with Melanie at WARM/Magic93. Also knew her as the morning co-host on Wazl with Joe Cepin. Very nice person and talented.
 
That is so sad to hear. Melanie was one of my early supporters and got me to stay in the business when I was ready to throw in the towel in the early 90s. She was a great talent. May she rest in peace.
 
I hired Mel at WARM. She was, without a doubt, the best, most pure female voice I've ever heard on the radio. No giggle chick here. In addition, she might very well be the most decent person I've ever known. We accomplished some great things at WARM, including getting McNulty back on the air and out of the newsroom, coverage of The Great American Race, and a few stunts for charity that would not have been possible without Melanie's energy and enthusiasm.

On a personal note, when I left Warmland, she threw me a going away party that I will NEVER forget. I hope that Northeast Pennsylvania will remember Melanie Apple Williams for a long time to come. I will forever be proud to have worked with her, and I will forever be proud to have known Melanie Apple Williams, and the two of us were, I know, forever proud to have been a part of the last great days of WARM.

I knew but never worked with Melanie. Listening to her, I often wondered if she was "real." She was. Mel had acquired that enormous skill of being able to communicate one-to-one with a listener. She was talking to you, and only you.

Does anyone know the chronology of her radio career?
