She went from being an "internet reporter" to CNN Headline News and now I've seen her anchoring on CNN.

Unfortunately for Long when I was watching her she was paired up with another anchor who was more interested in trying to be entertaining, with glib remarks, than just reporting the news. Melissa did not lower herself to that other person's level. For that she should be congratulated.

Another perfect example of WROC's management not recognizing talent when they had it.....(they didn't have much then, and have none now).

WROC's management/owners are not interested in a news deadline, but instead the bottom line. Decisions that should be made in the newsroom are instead made in the boardroom.

Whats funny is FOX First At Ten seems to show alot of reports from CNN. It would crack me up if they did a report from Melissa Long.

I watched Melissa every morning for years and she really improved over her time at WROC but she always
had an uncomfortable look (like Bob Saget on America's Funniest Home Videos.) Especially when she had to
transition between topics. Basically when she ad-libbed she stumbled. It got better towards the end of her
run but I really think the "personality driven morning show host" was not her area of expertise.

Hosting may not have been Ms. Long's strong point, but she has proven, at least to CNN, that she has the ability to anchor news. As someone else wrote on here, WROC-TV seems to have this mission of ridding their station of talented people and replacing them with people of less experience and abilities. Perhaps that is why that station has struggled over the years to maintain an audience.
