Looks like we in for more out of market voices that don't know a hoot about Memphis traffic problems and alternative routes. Good job Clear Channel keeping in local.

So is WGKX (Captain Pat) the only station with local traffic?

I worked for Metro once. I moved them from their old space to the Fox TV station. I did this in a "must get done now" situation including snow and ice on the roads, and billed them $600 for about 20 hours of work. It took them three months to pay me. I wouldn't work for them again for any amount of money.

Three VERY good salesfolk were let go today as well, I understand-Rodger Beasley, Kathryn Ann Matheny and Sarah Scoggins.

Seems like they have a death wish. Top talent and top sellers let go. Hard to find quality replacements at 1/2 price.

Any word why the 3 sellers were let go yesterday? I heard their names before I thought they the top sellers over there

My understanding was that they were vocal to management about the declines on Rock 103 and WREC leading to a lack of sales. One of them was ill that morning and was fired by voicemail.....class move.

Pretty sad when a company fires you for questioning something that is obvious and your only expressing your concerns. Who runs that opperation in Memphis, He/She must be some leader. I understand towing the company line..I guess the 3 of them forgot to drink the company kool-ade. I love the voice mail firing but then what do expect from a company that voice tracks so much.

What does falling ratings have to do with declines in revenue.....budgets are budgets...sellers sell. I don't want to hear a sob story about being #9 in the market instead of #1....just sell....sell.....sell!!!!

Pretty naive outlook, apparently you never sold media for a living. Ratings and revenue go hand in hand. Anyone who says different doesn’t understand media pricing. Of course a good seller can sell a station whether it has ratings or not. But do you think a commercial on WLOK is priced the same as a commercial on K97, do you think the top stations in Jackson TN sell their spots for the same price at the top stations in Memphis. It most cases budgets factor in ratings and when ratings significantly drop there is a drop in revenue. The #20 station in Memphis does not have the revenue expectations to be the #1 revenue producer in Memphis. Those sellers who questioned management have a right to know what is being done to fix a sick station. Advertisers also want to know that their investments are secure and they can expect a certain ROI.

Without intending to do so, you agreed with my statement when you said:
"Of course a good seller can sell a station whether it has ratings or not."

That's exactly the mindset of the management at CC. By that yardstick, these were not good sellers.

Thanks for confirming my post.

Dear Radionzmyblood nobody ever said they weren't selling the broken stations. According to the earlier post they only asked what was being done to fix WREC and Rock 103, I'm sure they have been grilled by their clients. I think they are good questions to ask of management. With Spencer gone, Rock and WREC are rudderles. If I were selling Rock 103 I'd like to know if there ever was an intention to bring some live local programming back to the station or even if they intend to change the format. Without live people on the air it certainly cuts backs on endorsement advertising, remotes and appearances.

*waves*

Never thought I'd warrant a thread. Wish it was under better circumstances.

Honestly, it's a relief to not have to deal with about 90% of MPD Dispatchers. Maybe I'll feel differently when the separation package runs out...

Molly, my last two posts have been pure satire. I was trying to put myself in the position of management at CC to illustrate the absurdity of it. I am fully aware and in agreement with your sentiments.
