Apparently yesterday, Melody Booker was let go after 17 years at WAFL/WYUS in Dover...

Budget cuts guessing are to blame...
 
given that Melody was replaced within twenty four hours of being shown the door, "budget cuts" are probably not the best guess..... :)

17 years....are you sure about that? I don't think it's been that long.
 
well - she was there in 1997 when I worked there, so that's at least 12 years

Is Melody Booker any relation to Pete Booker of Delmarva Broadcasting (WSTW, WDEL, etc.) ?

No they are not related.
