STOP running liners throwing *&^% at The Big Dog. Don't stoop to that level. Listeners don't care. All you're doing is giving TRP ammunition to stand around the hall talking about how scared they've made you. Do what you've been doing. Make compelling radio that relates to your listeners lives. That's how you win. You beat DJR into the dirt by doing that and I don't think I ever heard a single liner aimed at them while that was happening. Why start now. Regardless of what you may think, they are no more a threat now than they've ever been. In fact, with all the chest thumping, they may be even less a threat. Your listeners love you. You can look at your numbers and see that. They won't appreciate your competition "dogging" you, but they also won't appreciate you firing back. Get your head in the game and get those liners off the air. Why waste time pointing out that you have competition when you could be selling the benefits of listening to 95.5? Unless a full frontal assault, to move from worst to first, i.e. power pig (tampa) is called for in the
situation, don't acknowledge the other guy's station.
You are just giving "the big dog" promos for free on your 100,000 watt station.
And in this case, it is not called for (TVY is already first).
I smell a classic mistake happening here......KNEE JERK.

Nothing wrong with adjusting/updating your programming to take into consideration the changes
the other guy may have made. I would recommend it.
But they need to be subtle and well thought out. Something the listerner would not consciously
notice. Not pot shots at the other guy.
A smart move would be to heed "whirlwind's" advice.
Wake up people, this is covered in chapter one.

advice to the queen. Let her listeners see her true colors. When she falls, it'll be face

The Queen's attack machine is so unstopable that she can actually go on the air, deliver
the News 4 story about her drunken competitor's ego rampage in Ozark and dedicate a

Free advertising for the competition is only slightly less than what advertisers have to pay. AP is proving her lack of understanding of radio with these recent decisions on the air.

I heard 3 different voice talents and the old jingle package hit on DJR yesterday. It's amazing how the basics are not even getting covered down there. What does the PD do all day?

WOOF is the best sounding station in the market right now. Big book for them this time?

How could WOOF not have a huge book? Since the two giant country stations in the market are too busy chasing their own tails, and the jinxed signal at 105.3 is yet one more country station geared pretty much entirely at male listeners, where do the women go? Right to the comforting arms of David Sommers and the Woof-wolf, that's where. Hell, WOOF is the only contemporary Country station left in this town.

And no, the basics don't get covered at The Big Dog. They're STILL running a liner in their overnight satelite show inviting us to tune into The Mornin' Crew with Jerry and Misty.

As far as giving advice to AP, I'm just trying to be fair. I commented on the dead air on the weekends on this board, so I figured I'd give some advise to the other side as well. Besides, as bad as TVY is, at least they've been consistent. DJR has fired people, hired people, changed their presentation, turned the whole station up-side down, and basically torpedoed the whole operation. When in fact, a new morning show and some creative thinking would've done the trick. If TVY would just stay the course, and not get involved in the childish name-calling that DJR has started, they'll be fine. So Amie, if you're reading this....It's yours to lose, baby. Don't blow it.

I have to agree with you whirlwind .WOOF should have a huge book for fall and yes it's obvious they do target Women and do a good job of it. After all it is Women that make the money decisions in the hosehold isn't it ?
As far as the dead air goes you would think TRP would get a clue about it But the Magic Broadcasting stations are just as bad if not worse no one down there knows the in and outs of Maestro . I wonder what the advertisers think about thier spots not being played and made up?
I see in this market the only station that really doesn't have dead air is WOOF if you turn them on at 3 A.M. it's on the air just like it would be at 9 A.M..
All of WOOF'S jocks are smooth From Dave & Amy to John Tesh to Earl's Show On Sunday Nights ,They all sound good and professional .
On Saturday Nights I have heard so much dead air as I have heard With Open House Party On KMX and DJR'S Big Time Saturday night show it's obvious that these stations do not care about thier weekends. If You flip over to John Tesh on WOOF you will never hear 2 seconds of dead air matter of fact it sounds so good that it sounds just like he is in the WOOF Studio .

It makes me sad to think of the ole' days of radio when you have live people, in control of shows, i know kmx has a new system in and the bugs need to be worked out, but ladies and gentlemen automation is not perfect! woof is not perfect either, soon i hope things will come togeather for kmx, the station sounds so good right now, and im not sure who the p.d is, kmx seems to keep to them selfs, but congrats on the movement, sounds great, please fix the bugs and then kmx will sound perfect, as for the country stations...good luck, woof at work, well it works. i think woof and kmx will be ok in this country battle,my only comment about the woof jocks ..not smooth, i call it slow and boreing, wake up!!!! other jocks.. djr not bad, tvy not bad, kmx not bad, this is one persons opinion ...p.s.... i have noticed dead air on woof, everyone has it!!!

It's obvious who thier demo is teens because that is the only ones that will listen to that crap.And teens = No money = Few advertisers to buy your stations commercials at a decent price= Low pay for Employees.
WOOF Jocks ? Well if you look at them they must be doing something right in that building they are consistant and clean which makes the moms listen to them and who makes the financial decisons in the hosehold ? The women . WOOF has the lowest turnover out of any stations around here.

now you see,i didnt say woof was "off" all the time,sorry that i hurt your feelings, and you must work for woof to get defensive,i said woof "TO ME WAS SLOW" thats my opinon!!! and i didnt single out anyjocks,like you did !! and who cares whos names are real? as a whole kmx is sounding good, so is woof , but the two stations are like apples and grapes, as for any of the jocks at kmx, wtvy or djr and yes woof , needs improvment, and if you know so much about "turds" as you put it, then you must be listening, i know nothing about that, nor will i comment on other mornning shows ,for they are whackey, and i have said it before, i met squirrell,i tried to get him to work for me up here, he is a stand up guy,talks bad about no one, infact he had nothing but good things to say about jess and skip from trp,i listened today and it was far from 10 mins, and no talk about turds either, in fact i was entertained by them, so when i sit up here in the market above you "mt." and look in, such a waist of time you all do, dogging eachother, some of you should take a page from others that dont respond to this board,you want classy, when was the last time squirrell posted to this board? if he even reads it, there is your class!! you should take a page from his book.

I only put as "Turds" because that is how they put it over the Air they were even graphic with it. I was saying ten minutes as a example they play less music than any other station in this market . And no I don't work at WOOF if you would have read my previous post on various topics you would have figured out that I do not . In fact I wish I could get a job there but I can't because no one ever leaves and gets fired because the owner treats here employees like gold . It's not all about the dollar at WOOF , I think of them as one happy family that never downs anyone they just keep doing what they do. I friends that have been working there for a very long time and they are always nice to you no matter who you work for.
DJR is sounding great now that they have most of the bugs worked out and the Morning show is sounding better than it has in years ,except for the afternoon guy I think he makes his ego come across the airwaves a little to much.
