Memorial Day Programming Assignment

You are assigned by the PD at you station to produce a Memorial Day show with a military theme, what would you select beyond the obviuos "Soldier Boy" and "Ballad Of The Green Berets". i can think of at least 20 cuts...lets hear them

respond with two selection only, and you may come back with two more, after the next person has posted.
 
yes we are getting closer

"Mr Lonely" definitely talks about actually being in the Military, "i'm just a Soldier a Lonely soldier"...
"Peace Train", yes lets stop the war very good,
"Born in the USA" could be our military
"Snoopy vs the red baron" .. good one, I forgot about that one, very good.

Let me throw out a couple of easy ones, I have about 30 in my collection here's two more.

War - Edwin Starr
Viet Nam - Jimmy Cliff

Give me some songs that suggest ,war, soldier, sailor, military, draft. there are some real obvious ones out there, think about it.

hey david good ones, those were good examples, I'd leave out tie a yollow ribbon, like you said I was were more of a theme. Since I am awful with lyrics I like the way you explained the connection of the song to Military. I had no clue that Ruby was about a wounded soldier. Thanks

"Lights Of Albuquerque" (Viet Nam) - Don Quinton and Bill Mize competing versions.
"the medic says he doesnt stand a chance, and the wounded man replies , before i die i want to see once more the lights of Albuquerque...... Inspired by Daniel fernandez from Belen NM, just outside of Abq, as a medic in Viey Nam Daniel was tending to a couple wounds comrades and a grenade fell near the group, Daniel thew himself on the grenade and saved at least 5 of his comrades... he was posthumously awarded the Medal Of Honor.

I was wondering when someone would post GI Blues, very good.

"Soldier Boy" - This one of the most beautiful song ever recorded by Elvis, thats a bold statement, but you all need to check this song out.

"Didja-Ever" - Also from GI BLues.
