Memorial Day Programming Assignment

An American Trilogy - Elvis Presley
American Patrol - The Glenn Miller Orchestra (granted, not 60s and 70s classics, but he did change the face of music in the military and boosted morale. He also died in the service of our country).

Tomorrow is memorial day ......listen to your local stations and see if they picked up on our posts and used our lists to program a "Memorial Day Tribute Show".

Our nearby oldies station will probably do Memorial Day with the grace and dignity it deserves. No tellin' what the shipwreck way up the road will do - a few "it's all about me" stories and tabloid trash in between, with some not quite complete history of Memorial Day. LOLOL

This a sad day for me... the following classmates of mine from elementary school through high school perished in Viet Nam.

Francisco Narsiso Hererra
Leigh Hunt
Gary Noltzmeyer
Lee Williamson
Cres Salazar

We are planning a special tribute to them, as we celebrate our 45th high school reunion 09/05/09.

The last few years WLS in Chicago brought back some DJs from their rock & roll era & let them each do a shift on Memorial Day. This year instead of doing that WLS aired an 85 year history retrospective from the Prairie Farmer years, rock & roll years, through todays talk radio format.
I would've much rather heard the format from the last few years.
