Board Op'ing a Braves game so my part-timers can have a day off.
Hope you're better about paying attention to the breaks than the usual 98.1 board ops, Jackie. I listen to the Braves on either 94.9 or 98.1 and almost without fail when they call for a break for i.d, or go into the half-inning commercial break, there's a gaping pause you could drive a train thru on 98.1. Okay, it's no huge deal, but it's also not rocket science and it drives me nuts when board ops won't even pay attention to the breaks. A job worth doing is worth doing right.

I voice tracked my show for the next five years so I could make it an extra special long Memorial Day weekend... :'(

Horrible day for my oldies channel 1067. Racing over load.
:p

NASCAR has reached it's saturation level. They're panicing! They are trying to figure out what to do the get more spectators. Now, I understand NASCAR is going to try a shot at ethnic groups. Frankly, in this day and age with all the communications, television, cable, XM Channels dedicated to NASCAR, just how many (or should I say, how few) people listen to races on the radio. Ridiculous.

NASCAR made a big mistake by awarding its museum to Charlotte and not Atlanta. They'll find out.

Number of tourist per year would be a good starting point I why it was poor decision to paick Charlotte. Did they only want to attrat Nascar fans by going to Charlotte or attract a larger base of fans and potential fans and put it Atlanta. They went with the internal political pressure.

My guess is that they wanted to keep it close to its roots ala the NFL Hall of Fame. Maybe they were short-sighted business-wise, but to me, it's somewhat refreshing to see them forego the extra money to maintain some sort of connection to its beginnnings.

Several of the drivers, who live in Charlotte, forced the decision. NASCAR fans will certainly travel to Charlotte to check it out, and the attendance might be great for a couple of years. But after checking it out, that's probably it for 5 years or more.

Big NASCAR fans will come from anywhere to see it. But Atlanta would have drawn NASCAR fans and lots of other people since far more people visit Atlanta than Charlotte. People with families visiting the Aquarium and The World of Coke would have gone to see it.

And in Atlanta, the museum wouldn't be a one-visit thing. People return to Atlanta more often and would visit it again and again. And Atlanta would have done a much better job of marketing it together with Atlanta's other attractions.

you guys.
Charlotte got the museum first...not LAST.
just like building a new track/field/arena, this
is not the end. soon enough, there'll be talk about
moving. the Golf museum/hall of fame/whatever
moved from NC to Florida. same ole same ole.
