Memories continued

@ron
Just a few thoughts .....
Although the latest faithful P-2 listening I did to WPEN and to their Standards was around 1990 -- Joe Niagara, Ken Garland, Tom Moran -- I do remember Glenn Barton doing news there for them. That was a long time after he'd done his WFIL music-power newscasts, with intonations such as the heist of 'several thousand dollars in POHHHHSTAGE stamps (!!!!) .....' He sounded like he wanted to pound on the news desk for even more emphasis at WFIL.
IIrc, WPEN was doing very well in the book around that 1990's time, 5's and 6's. For a station that may as well have been a daytime-only signal to the northwest at night, those ratings were terrific.
Somewhere in the confusion here is a sheaf of 'Want Songs' from WPEN. They represented a nice portion of the overall list for the 'sound' we were looking to get out of an LPFM we had up this way. Heck: affinity, belief and affection for music and radio presentation such as WPEN's, for a Queens NYC punk who was raised on Three Dog Night, The Chiffons, Beach Boys and the Shadows of Knight et al must count for something.
Best of 2024 to you!

Hi, Bobby Mitchell here. I did afternnon drive for a year or two in the mid 70's at 95PEN. Speaking of newsmen let's not forget Brandon Barrett Brooks, he filled in on various shifts during that time. And I'm sure you remember William Wellengton Cole!.
This should bring back memories.

I remember you. And Mike St. John much later with the format change one winter. . In fact I have tapes of a few of you when I’d sit in my bedroom and hit the tape recorder lol.
