Hi,
I am trying to keep alive the memory of 101.5 WJOR- St. Joseph TN. If anyone has any memories of this station, please post them here. Here's my memory of WJOR....
It all started back in 2001. I was scanning my small cheap FM radio when I heard WJOR for the first time. Although I didn't know much about radio at my young age, I could tell there was just something different about the station. Although the signal was weak, I began to tune in every day. I realized this was a REAL hometown station. At 8, 12, and 5 PM, they aired local News, community announcements, obits, and "The Salvage and More Trading post." At 5 PM, they switched from country to southern gospel, and played that until 8 AM. I called the DJ's all the time, and They played my requests without question. Lonnie J. Box was on air from around 6 AM to noon, then Rockin Steve Cole was on until 5 or 6. On Sundays, the station played Gospel all day, and preaching, then Bryan Prestley was on air Sunday evenings. I got to know him quite well over the phone, and considered him like a friend. He was amazed I was listening from Cullman County, and he began to know me by a first name basis. When I told him about my Cousin supposedly heading to war, he prayed with me, and assured me that whatever happened was part of God's plan. Then, back in 03 or 04, Clear Channel bought the small station. and in April 2006, WJOR was gone from the airwaves forever.
