Anyone see the Boston papers today, Mumbles is whining that BCN and the morning drive guys O&A need to be punished for something they did in NEW JERSEY! OK it was a stunt with a lack of good taste, but that's what radio has become hasn't it?

BTW mumbles, how come Harborlights/a.k.a.(fill in the bank du jour)Pavilion which is fighting for its life because that space is supposed to be used for marine/fisheries related use is all of a sudden going to be OK for a new *[EDIT] hall?

You want to help the homeless Mumbles... GIVE city hall to the Pine Street Inn or the New England Shelter For Homeless Vets. I bet there is enough square footage in that place to assure everyone a warm bed at night.

As for O&A if they're successful, more power to 'em but it was kinda

and family heard the false-news, etc. Say what you want about
Mumbles but would you want that to happen to you? Oh well...

And City Hall should stay where it is (knock it down and replace it with
a GOOD looking building and lots of greenery around...or if you must
sell the land maybe they can put a new Fenway there. Hey,
it would be near a lot of public transit which is more than can be said
for the proposed new site... New Fenway Park at Government Center baby!

He is the most self serving politician out there.
He latches his name onto every cause, function, just about everything in Boston.
And his latest and greatest idea...use up some more waterfront real estate for a city hall.
Put it this way....it will be the only building in South Boston that would get less use than a football stadium.
Go to other cities: any city luck enough to border water, they make good use of it....make it a place to go, with things to do. What do we have in Boston? A court house, a proposed City Hall, a couple of hotels, a post office, and only a couple spots that are appealing to tourists.

On the air. Because they pulled it off and made millions there are some people on this very board who think they are "talented". It doesn't take talent to push envelopes, it takes permission.

Menino is a good Mayor, but like all good politicians in power for a long time, bad ideas come along - like a City Hall on a waterfrong. That courthouse is the most ridiculous idea - why don't they put Cedar Junction on the water too and reopen Deer Island - oh, forgot, they have a sewage treatment plant on Deer Island.

Why not a radio station on Deer Island?

Forget the "gay marriage" issue - why don't the citizens band together and throw the judges out of the
waterfront courthouse, give them the Schraft Building or something that makes sense, and open the waterfront to Disneyworld North

If they must have the courthouse there, build Courthouse Radio to be broadcast to all frequencies in all the tunnels in Boston proper. You can hear the cases while stuck in traffic.

You are right the April Fools bit was wrong no two ways about it. IT was also almost ten years ago so it means nothing in relation to the topic today and bringing it up is pointless. The homeless shopping spree while possibly in bad taste has nothing to do with Mumbles, it did not happen for example at The Chestnut Hill Mall, it happened two hundred miles away in New Jersey, not his purvue, not his jurisdiction. Say what you will about O and A but Menino is just grandstanding and stupidly so. He came off looking really dumb on this one and I would not blame him for still holding a grudge about the April Fool's joke it was thoughtless and very cruel to his loved ones. and on top of that a bad bit with no punchline at all!. That is another story and has little to do with this one. Menino just comes off as dumb this time.

Menino has every right to criticize O & A; they crossed the line. When people cross the line like that - say - trying to silence a critic by victimizing someone's family (because they lack the decorum or the intelligence to do otherwise) - then Mayor Menino or other victims of that kind of cruel abuse have every right to call the culprits whenever opportunity arises. If Menino could have those two clowns removed from the airwaves I applaud it. Not censorship, just limiting the garbage that comes from Big Business.

There are a LOT of talented jocks, some might be reading this board, denied a voice - denied an opportunity to provide quality programming - because of foul mouthed jerks who pushed the envelope with permission.

Accountability in broadcasting is such a foreign term these days. I say the garbage coming from the mouths of Opie & Anthony censor intelligent thoughts that could be in their place. I hate censorship - Opie & Anthony - by virtue of their potty mouths - have effectively censored more talented and brighter individuals. Alas, we have to put up with a steady diet of junk food - Howie Carr, Jay Severin, Opie & Anthony, Tucker & Carlson, Rush Limbaugh, if we choose not to buy XM or SIRIUS and we choose to listen to the radio.

and a dynamic radio team that has proven that "Down" never means "Out", and there are a vast number of people who find themselves so angered over it, so jealous of the success...
not just once, but twice, and bigger this time than ever before!

There's an old saying:
"It is easier to beg forgiveness, than to obtain permission", let me pose a question;
Who gave the Eminent Uncle Milty the go ahead to step out on stage in the 50's in a positively garish
drag costume? Anyone want to argue this being one of the most momentous moments in broadcast history? I doubt NBC could tell him no.
Who gave Colonel John Glenn permission to fire all of the rocket motors on the second try at the 'sound barrier' when he throttled them all up and just 'went for it'?
Did the Eminent Orson Welles ask permission to scare the heck out of people nationwide into a frenzy with his groundbreaking "War of the Worlds"?
No.
These events, though unconnected, were all ground breaking.
To the generation O&A are targeted, their show is what we need and what we want.
I grew up on stations like KMET, KLOS, KROQ, KISW, KZOK, and others, I had grown so tired of the same old stuff, those who were so scared of the bosses, scared of the minority, scared of offending anyone. Offending someone is more fun and entertaining to me than the baby food on the air over the last ten years or more.
These guys are a breath of fresh air, what they do is irreverant and offensive, they do an honest show. I don't care if they offend people, if you don't like the show, dummy, don't listen!
I was in Desert Storm, I deserve to listen to whatever I want. If I feel they are funny and if they make fun of some group of people, or a specific mushmouth, GOOD!
People in this country have forgotten how to grow some skin, how to take a joke, and the people who pay are the ones who least owe the debt.
