MERGE 32

Posting in a number of catagories, so I apologize if you see this more than once.

Does anyone know or have the required file structure for a traffic file to be used by Merge 32 and Scott. None of the new Google documentation has the structure (The Merge 32 manual is a joke) and I'm convinced the log problem I'm having has to do with what's coming out of the traffic system.

What's the issue you're having? Which traffic system? How long has it been going on? What's changed since it last worked properly?

Depending on the problem......................

I do know that the Merge32/Scotts needs to see a specific order for the "cuts" that it is scheduling. Its been 2 years since I delt with it but I know the last one that I worked with the installer from Scotts had to do some work to get it to see our traffic system (can't remember which traffic system it was). The # of characters didn't agree with Scotts. We had to do our "show" scheduling with our music software and just spots form the traffic system.

Bill, to answer your questions..

What's the issue you're having?
Merge 32 creates blank lines with dead cart numbers (0000) between each spot during the all-in-one conversion.

Which traffic system?
Marketron

How long has it been going on?
Since I came to this station a year ago.

What's changed since it last worked properly?
As far as I can tell, this has been an ongoing problem that has been bandaided and jerryrigged. It's my impression that if I could get the proper file structure I can fix the problem and automate the process. But again, that's just an uneducated guess.

Is this the web-based Marketron? It put out a file that needs to be converted to something Merge understands. We had the SS-DOS system (Merge 16), but I'm pretty sure Merge 32 uses the same format. We used a program called Power-Link that would convert Marketron to Merge. Then Merge was happy. Visit http://power-link.com/ and click on the Power-Link on the left-side of the screen.

I'm not familiar with Marketron but that sounds like the same issue we were having with the traffic program we were running.

Does anyone have a file that is "Merge friendly" that you can send me. I'm thinking that Marketron can output a file specificaly for Merge, but I need to structure.

12 years of working with Scott systems here.

Are you using Visual Traffic or Marketron?

What file format are you exporting from your traffic system?

Do you have that system selected (or the compat) in the Merge32 configuration?

Are you working with hourly templates in merge, or just a blank merge grid?

It sounds like it will come down to the export template you are using from traffic. Do you have a support contract with Scott (Google)? If so, have you already run this by them?

Due to a copper theft at the transmitter today, I wasn't able to get with traffic. I'll try to get an output from Marketron and convert it in the Scott version of Power-Link. We don't use Scott any more, but I still have the converter. Once that's done, I can send it wherever you want.
