Apparently she wants to do more work for "Today" and for her own production company.

Although I wonder why anyone would leave a successful daytime game show that's gotta be paying her a few million dollars a year. She only does the show four months a year, mid-August through mid-December, taping four shows a day, Monday through Thursday. It's a grind but you're free before the holidays till next summer.

The article makes it clear, they'll continue with a new host in the fall.

Katie Couric is still under contract with ABC/Disney, and her talk show isn't exactly lighting up the mid-afternoons.

I shouldn't even make that suggestion---the perkiness alone will melt LCD screens!

Chuck W. Lingo's former host?
Peter Brady?
Bob Saget?
Richard Kahn who's back with Tim Allen tonight?
Former Step by Step Dad?

^I believe you were referring to Richard Karn and his appearance in an episode of the program "Last Man Standing" scheduled to be presented by ABC tonight.

The funny thing is I didn't realize that Millionaire was still in production.

I was wondering last summer if Millionaire was returning, and it was....

But haven't the ratings been in the dumpster? What's the value of keeping it going?

And, the "filmizing" of the show....drives me away. It ain't "Gone with the Wind."

How about Cat Deeley as the next host? She has filled in before for Meredith, and she is a GREAT host!
Next best host if Cat doesn't make the cut - Tom Bergeron.

Next to Seacrest, Tom Bergeron is the 2nd busiest host in television with Videos and Dancing. I don't think he has had a third job since Hollywood Squares ended a few years ago. ;D

Didn't "Squares" end before "Dancing" debuted?

Yes. DWTS started it's first season on 6/1/2005, but Hollywood Squares (AKA H2 as it was called) ended at the end of the 2003-04 TV season. Didn't get to see the final season in Seattle because KING had Inside Edition in Squares' former spot at 7:30. It did air in the 2002-03 season however.

Fine, go ahead and correct me in front of the whole class, see if I care! :p ;D

I like Merideth as a host, whatever she does. Perhaps she is bored and just wants to move on. She will find work wherever she seeks it. A natural tv talent.

Regis would be the best replacement, but he probably won't go for it. Maybe ABC will pull in one of The View ladies or someone else on the payroll already.
