Meridian Numbers

Let's talk sense. Any astute agency buyer will note, with great interest, the STANDALONE Fall Numbers. They may "attempt" to use the two-book average figure to hammer down a rate, but any good seller will also point out the market dynamics and the individual Fall Book performance holds up...and CAN be sold. I don't think CC will have any trouble selling this book for what it is. And we're not pooh-poohing the urban numbers at all...I do know that generally speaking, the same clients who are prone to buy WMSO will not buy urban, and vice versa. Just the nature of the game. Two different audiences totally.

My, my, your ego is certainly in tact. First you claim WJXM is giving away their spots because they don't know how to sell it and now you are saying that heads are going to roll. What next?

My ego? What does that have to do with it? Let just say this right out front because I'm sure some of you are thinking that I'm some cheerleader from Clear Channel or a disgruntled former employee from New South: I am neither. Any information I've said about their sales tactics has been told to me by people that I'm not at liberty to reveal the identies of (who may or may not be current employees). As for the "heads rolling" comment, that was merely speculation. No one has confirmed (or denyed for that matter) that jobs are on the line at WOKK.

As for what I am, I'm only an observer like most of you. I have sources in both buildings and I take everything I hear with a grain of salt, however 99.9% of the information I've heard from either camp has proven to be true. I also have sources at WTOK and the "other" stations on the hill so don't think for a minute that any of those stations are immune from my criticism either.

So don't assume that I'm just some cheering plant from CC or a doomsday soothsayer against New South. Again, I'm neither. Besides, you know what happens when you assume...

I never assumed anything about you either way nor am I trying to offend you. You keep posting hearsay and claiming to have sources here, there and everywhere. You know Dude(?) people in this business yak. Gossip flies and people get hurt. Miss 101 had a good fall book and good for them. However, I don't think WOKK is going to lay down and roll over. It's one book man. That's it. A fluke? Maybe or maybe not. Time will tell bro.

I must re-address my earlier posting....I WAS wrong. After looking at the breakdowns, CC did have an impressive book. The whole rolling average thing throws you off (me specifically) to give you another impression. When you see the real digits, it's a different story. But even after gazing at the numbers, I doubt anyone will lose their gig over it. I'd imagine we'll see an interesting Spring in the Queen City.

Do you think CC will loosen the purse strings if in fact it's not sold before then? Should be interesting to see what kind of rabbits get pulled from the hat on both sides.

Before anyone freaks out one way or the other about these numbers...let's realize that only 178 diaries were turned in. That's a tiny representation.

I agree. It's certainly puts an interesting spin on all this madness.
