Merkel and Cris -- No timing

Had the 3WS morning show on today and remain amazed at Cris Winter's inability to grasp the basics of radio.

They were talking about gasoline prices and Merkel had a couple of jokes. Cris kept stepping on the punch lines to interrupt with some decidedly unfunny observation. So Merkel doesn't know whether to repeat the line or to just give up. It's as though she has no sense of being on the air and acts as though it's just a conversation in the lunch room. Maybe it's a product of her not working in a multi-person setting or not understanding that you should leave a second or two for a joke to sink in. Whatever the case, why doesn't the PD call her in, play the tapes and explain that you don't walk all over the punch lines. Merkel's an easy-going guy, probably too easy-going for his own good in this situation.

Madairchecker,

You are relatively new to this board. Notes like yours have been posted in the past regarding this pairing and the lack of receptiveness of Winter as a co-host. She is not Gary Dickson, who was let go. I don't know if you are new to the city Madairchecker, but the teaming of Merkel and Dickson was a true pairing of people with great chemistry.

Perhaps the 3WS Program Director should call her in. My grandchild knows better than to interrupt people. He is all of seven years old.
