MESSAGE BOARDS ON LOCAL TELEVISION STATIONS

First of all i like to thank the people on this board for always staying on topic and leaving their personal agendas at the door.
Now the reason for this topic ,i want know why our local TV station do not have a handle on what is posted on their message boards regarding news topics like illegals or other hot topics, some stations like ABC15 or AZ family 3 allow posters to use offensive or racial derogatory remarks toward certain race , religion or gays.Yes i know people have a right to free speech but where is the line that we should not cross? have we become a society that turns a blind eye to bigotry once again? i hope not,so please if you work for any of television stations please clean up your web sites or monitor them better.

I'll take a shot at an answer why your demand won't be met - cost. It takes a pair of human eyes to monitor message boards and with the current state of the stations' finances assignment of moderators isn't about to happen. If the boards get too out-of-control they will simply be shut down.

As for posters use of vulgar and offensive language....blame their educators and society at large. Everywhere you look for the past several decades there has been an increasing tolerance of outrageous behavior and language and you need only look at the so-called 'leaders' in talk radio/TV and so-called entertainment (rap) to see how this has occurred.

One reason I don't read comments on newspaper sites or blogs, or listen to TV or radio shows who feature call-ins, is the general intelligence level of those who use these forums to vent. If I wanted to hear that kind of idiotic and/or offensive language I'd just trot on down to my local truck stop the day they raise the diesel prices.

Thanks guys for you response.Yes i have read azcentral's message boards and it does get nasty and they do ban people from using,i know i got banned by a someone who friend or associate i called out on a topic, anyways back to the topic at hand i was hoping that the news station would have someone read the post here to get a handle on what people like or dislike.wishfully thinking but i doubt it.

I once hung out at AZCentral (Key: "once") for D'Backs discussion.
That site was acid.
Absolutely no oversight from any "mod".

Found RealGM.com.
A much better outlet.

Yes. I've never understood why seemingly everyone who contributes there feels the need to be a smart@ss.

I wish they would just disable the comments feature altogether.

But if they did, what would Channel 12 fill their "news"cast time with? Real news? Naaaahhhhhh! ;D

(And, in the interest of full disclosure, I post comments there myself on occasion. ;) )
