Message Radio of San Antonio

There Gonna Have Some Trouble Once 101.5 KROX Moves To Buda

If that ever happens, yeah.
However the antenna location of this Message Radio 101.5 is somewhat close to my area of town. So if KROX will overpower it when it's on I'm surprised.

This station is now KIEI-LP. The stream on their website has a lot of Gospel and such.

Here is their other website.

Supposedly plans are still in motion for this station. Hopefully they can make it on without trouble. Message Radio is different than your generic Christian station, as it plays lots of soft Christian and gospel. It sounds like something an older church gathering might listen to.

I don't know how the FCC changed their CP's height like that between when it was filed and when it was allowed. But I wouldn't be surprised if this LPFM is working directly with the Federal Government and has connections to the FCC directly...
Not fair for the other LPFMs in town who may want to check on this mysterious station, maybe they can get connections like Message Radio has. I checked with the Message Facebook page and the guy messaged me back near the end of last month saying he had to get a permit from the city. I thought the FCC was the Federal Government not the city... This is just odd.

There in is the problem. The FCC might allow it but will the city or county? What permits and codes do you have to comply with it if it is even allowed by the city or county? If you wonder why it takes so long, look to the city and county. I waited a year on one site just for it to be voted down by the city.

So the city also decides on radio stations that enter it? I thought it was just the FCC that decides, and the city only has a say in it if the tower is owned by that city itself.

Cities have the ultimate say-so on zoning, business licenses and permits.

Towers have o meet zoning, FAA, EPA and other standards depending on the location.

I know of one FL transmitter site relocation that took 12 different permits, from the EPA to even the BIA. And that was all after the FCC approved the technical design!

No, the FCC authorizes stations to communities. The city and county governments have regulations. To build anything, even a shed in your backyard or knocking down a wall in your home, putting in a culvert or driveway takes permits. The city and county or perhaps just one has to allow it and cities and counties know little of radio. Given many are elected or are in positions where if they screw up they're out of a job, are ultra careful. Ticking off homeowners who don't want to see an antenna or allowing a permit that creates a problem elsewhere strikes fear in them. They could care less if you have a federal permit. That is why many stations locate towers outside the corporate limits of towns. And let's not get in to towers that alter birds' migratory paths and the fun that presents.

I understand now.
All I can say is good luck to Message Radio in getting through all this. It just confuses me how the height changed, when I've seen no other station do that.

It might be as simple as what happened to me. Got approval on tower but when I got the Construction Permit the only way to go on the tower was to drop about 30-40 feet lower. They leased my spot on the tower between the time I applied and got the Construction Permit. Can't blame the tower owner for that. Someone else wanted that spot before I was ready.
